Cities (As defined as having a population over 200,000) that I have been to and found to suck:

-San Jose...like a large office park with as much charm and night life.
-Detroit. No need to explain.
-Nashville. It was like being trapped in a Bob Evans.
-Oklahoma City. See San Jose, only with longer drives to go to nothing.
-Sacramento. Following the rule established somewhere that the capital of every state is never a good city.
-Oakland. A wrong turn from a really nice city across the bay. Go back to the bridge...run.
-Toledo. Like a bigger version of sucky small cities.
-Newark. It's a sci fi movie..toxic waste from NY makes retarded mutants in a stinking wasteland of wanna be freaks.
-Orlando. It would be OK I guess for those who prefer awful overpriced tourist trap hell on roids...

Ohh, I love OKC. The people are indeed bland, but they're good people. It reminded me quite a bit of Buffalo, actually. I think that's where its charm was for me. It's one of those places that really does not have much in the way of tourism or visiting, at least not to the casual visitor, but would be a decent place to live, in my estimation. I reeeaaaally don't fit in in Buffalo so much, at least not with those I have had to associate with (pretty sure I'd be good with the artist community, for example), but I do respect and love it. I would not mind raising children in either area.

Bratislava: It's supposed to be an old charming beauty, but it's just old (except the city center).

U.S. Cities (I've only visited a few): Ocean City was nice, but bars closing at 2a.m. was disappointing. That's teasing without a happy end and I already hate it when girls do that ;).

I'm going to have to disagree there.
People shouldn't be living in Silicon valley if they're looking for nightlife. Just move a bit north to San Francisco if that's your thing.

People, like I did, live in silicon valley because of all the awesome companies, opportunity to make gobs of cash and be surrounded by a large concentration of smart people.

If you're a computer geek, there is no better place to be.

Montreal Toronto and Vancouver are some of the best cities in Canada, or North America for that matter

I never been either but the people that I have talked to that have been there say the people think they are better than any one else. Everybody who goes there say they'd rather go to Kelowna.

Montreal is awesome. great night life, excellent place to see a hockey game, and the women there arent exactly offensive to the eyes.

Im sure where ever you go, you will run into people who they they are better then eveyone else.

what? how can you even compare the two? vancouver is a major major city on the coast. kelowna is a smaller/mid sized city. while im at it, people would rather go to odessa, texas, over san antonio.

anyone who ever said that to you, either A lied, or B is clinically insane.

I've definitely never been there, but Paris seems overrated to me. It just looks... ugly/average.

If there is one thing Paris is not, is average.

To me Paris is a magical place. The bridges that cross the Seine are each unique and all along the banks are artists and venders and little places to share a bottle of wine and a crepe while watching the tour boats sail by. The architecture ranges from the Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral to I.M. Pei's modern glass pyramid outside the Louve. The gardens, which make up a quarter of the city, are worth a tour all by themselves and 1,500 years of history is all around you, as well as under you (a tour of the underground catacombs is a little creepy as you walk through tunnels lined with the bones and skulls from Paris' overflowing 18th century cemeteries).

You will never find better bread, cheese, and wine anywhere else in the world, and the people were among the friendliest I have ever encountered in my travels.

I don't know that I could ever get tired of Paris.

Ah, OK. I was going purely by pictures that I have seen. Good that you cleared that up. ;)

I prefer cities with culture, anyway, so I think I would like it there.

Ummm. Let's see. I bet Miami is overrated. Never been there, either, but I bet it is.

If you think Paris looks ugly and average, then what is a pretty city? Atlanta? Cleveland?

Paris is beautiful.

LA isn't that great, but I've never thought of it as "higly rated". I'd have to say it was probably the biggest disappointment I've had as far as first impressions of a major city though. I'll go with LA.

No, Atlanta and Cleveland are also ugly and average. The vast majority of cities are; that is why they are average. But Paris has a reputation for being physically beautiful, and that is not evident in many photos of the city, though it may be. It is... physically indistinct in structure? Something like that.
