Dregger tweeted about an hour ago: Oilers looking for Defense!
And low and behold, there was an Edmonton scout at both the Caps and Canucks games here in Buffalo.
Anyone care to speculate?

There are scouts from other teams at every NHL game every night. It's not that big a deal.

But...rampant speculation is always fun.

I know.
When Superior Lubricants had a box at HSBC the owner brought me in the wife down quite a bit for games.
I used to see the scouts all the time walking to through there.
I was always nervous too, wondering which Sabre they were after. It was pretty funny.
And Squanto is correct, there is like half a dozen or more at games on any given night.

One can dream can't one? :D

Well heard that we are very close to sealing the Connolly/OV trade.

I think Wash needs to add. Throw in Semin and we'll consider it. ;) :D

Two games in a row scouting a team that you play once a year?

I know it was Vancouver, but there are a lot of places closer to them to scout the nucks than Buffalo.

So...

NHL Teams have scouts all over the country, assigned to different regions. They didn't send someone out here specifically for Buffalo or Vancouver.

Wow I never knew that.

The Sabres website lists 8 amateur scouts, and only 1 professional scout.

Vancouver lists less amateur scouts and only 2 professional scouts.

Yeah. As it was explained to me by a very reliable person, they're usually contracted, and not direct team employees. That's why they don't always show up in media guides, etc.

Send Edmonton Butler, his value is through the roof I think right now. He has really turned it on this season compared to last season.

I know people are saying we're deep at D...but, are we? Rivet seems to be done, and we're not sitting any other D men, do we have AHL talent just waiting to come up? I've LOOOOVED butlers play lately, and i'd hate to see him leave.

But if he WERE to leave...what could we reasonably get for him?

I'm surprised no one picked up on the factoid I shared that the Sabres' defense is LEADING THE NHL IN GOALS and are on pace to double the goal output of any Lindy Ruff-led defensive unit EVER.
