I always get a kick out of reading other teams fan forums. It is hysterical how similar the behavior and comments are: Homers, doom & gloomers, etc.

Now, the Washington Capitals are clearly one of the best teams in the league. Their top line is stunningly potent, having all 3 in the top 6 in the LEAGUE points-wise. Granted their playoff appearances have sucked, but they are built for regular season hockey like no other team.

STILL....
Here are just a few comments made before they faced Buffalo this past weekend:

--Here we go! I predict a caps win 5-3
--Thanks for starting the thread OP! Miller tonight? Could be trouble.
--7 in a row please.
--I am just fearful of a classic Capitals letdown against a perceived lesser, struggling team. No wins at home, lets hope that this will not be the first.
--No Gluedon tonight. All the makings of a letdown.
--We're doomed if we take the lead!

And finally one who has my mentality--he doesn't want his team sneaking into the playoffs:

--I'm actually happy Miller is back for a team that should be fairly desperate tonight. I feel like every challenge the Caps face during the regular season in terms of their opposition is a good one. Hopefully Miller is on his game tonight. I don't really want any breaks during the regular season, whereas I'll take any and all breaks once the playoffs start. I'd like to see the guys win a close one with some ugly goals, smart play, and a shut out on the PK to get it back on track and continue its upward swing. Too bad Gordon is out. Hopefully Johanson can get his MoJo back.

Here are a couple comments just after Vanek scored the winner in OT:
--That was some ridiculous acceleration. Game.
--Hot knife through butter.
--that was slick. time for dinner.
--Well, they didn't win on a cheapy.
--Wow Vanek.. That's on Johansson.
--Wowzer.

BONUS comment:
This is from the GDT for the rematch...

--No more Vanek making our rookies look like rookies, please.

Haha that's kind of funny.

I agree with them on matchups. In order to be the best, you have to beat the best. That's why I don't care who we get matched up against in the playoffs. Even if we play a lesser team, we're going to have to play the better teams eventually. Might as well do it right away.

Doing it the Carolina way doesn't work 99 times out of 100.

Yep...fanbases are pretty much the same around the entire league...no, in the entire sports world.

If you make it into the Finals, you clearly are one of the best teams in the league, no matter how you get there, and Washington tonight will be tough, since we are at their home arena, but we've been good on the road.

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.
