He did a chat on ESPN today, and this kid Alex asked the following question and got the following response:

Alex (NYC)
Hey Ovi, DVD looks awesome! When you get stoned on a breakaway (like Miller did to you on Saturday), is that something that stays with you, or is it easy to forget?

Alex Ovechkin (12:38 PM)
You just forget it. You watch the replay and see what you have to do better.

They don't matter for Washington, but his team still almost blew a 3 goal lead.

almost almost counts too.

miller didnt stone him. ovechkin went to his right, miller got to the spot, it wasnt a difficult save. ovie went simple, and miller made a simple, but timely stop.

It wasn't a crazy acrobatic save, but it was huge. OV likes to back goaltenders up and shoot. Miller stayed right forward and took away his shooting option, and forced him into what looked like a weak deke.

it was a huge save, yeah. but he didnt stone him. it was one of those things where OV and miller realized he had no chance to score, so he had to make a weak move. then it was just a race to the spot, which miller won easily. nice save, good save, timely save. but im not going to say he stoned him, or robbed him.

Miller forced Ovie to do something he didn't want to do. Maybe he didn't make an outrageous save, but when you force the shooter to do something other than what they want, you did your job.

he most certainly did his job. it was a nice save, and any save is a nice save. i just dont want to use the term "stoned". to me, thats reserved for a save a goalie has no business making. he made that save, and he made it easily. thats all im saying.

I'd call that "robbed."

Stoned means he just out-dueled him and stopped him. Period. Rock solid. Peace out OV.

so, stoned means miller just simply beat him?

*contemplates....*

ok, i can agree with that. fair enough. agreed. i always equated stoned with like, posterizing a defender in basketball. something all stretched out and magnificent.
