ok, i can agree with that. fair enough. agreed. i always equated stoned with like, posterizing a defender in basketball. something all stretched out and magnificent.


I think you can't just look at the acrobatics of the situation. You have to take into consideration the magnitude of such a play at any given point in a game.

That was a huge save to make, and a big shot for Ovechkin to fail to capitalize on.

i agree, it was a huge save. i just always equated stoning a shooter with an acrobatic save.

I think the term stoned means the goalie was so solid the shot had no chance, and thus DOESN'T fit in an acrobatic situation. I mean the root of the term is a stone wall known for being a solid impassible barrier not for spectacularly keeping things out that should have gone in.

I equate being stoned as well being high as shit, haha.

I agree too, robbed is making those ridiculous saves and stoning them is simply stopping them cold.
