The fact that two neighbors had to collaborate on it makes it better.

What's COOLEST is those neighbors are Oilers and Flames fans. Hated Battle of Alberta rivals collaborating on a backyard rink.

I've seen this before, and it makes me wish it would get cold enough here to freeze my yard and make myself a rink.

As a first time home buyer searching for places to settle into by 2011, one of my criteria is a yard large enough to build my own rink.

I'm really, REALLY looking forward to it.

Well they are on opposite sides of the rink...

Holy shit.

If it wasn't so late in the year I'd get this damn tree cut down and put my rink up.

when i have land, i am going to put in a rink with a small concrete wall around it, so it can be used for inline/basketball in the summer, and flooded in the winter for ice. :)

best idea ever?

Don't put up the wall, that's dangerous for the summer sports.

Just do a concrete pad, and raise it up a little bit. Build in anchor points for boards, and attach them in the winter when you flood it.

when i said wall, i meant like a curb. so it contains the water. 4 inches tall. then a wall that can be taken down or put up.

The ice will wreck the hell out of those curbs.
