when i have land, i am going to put in a rink with a small concrete wall around it, so it can be used for inline/basketball in the summer, and flooded in the winter for ice. :)

best idea ever?

Don't put up the wall, that's dangerous for the summer sports.

Just do a concrete pad, and raise it up a little bit. Build in anchor points for boards, and attach them in the winter when you flood it.

when i said wall, i meant like a curb. so it contains the water. 4 inches tall. then a wall that can be taken down or put up.

The ice will wreck the hell out of those curbs.

fuck yo curbs

I figured that's what you meant.

I had a buddy that had something like that growing up. We tripped over that damn thing all the time playing basketball.

Just once. He only flooded it for an ice rink once. We used to play in a park right in the center of town, and area about the size of 4 volleyball courts that flooded and froze every year.

My brother-in-law is doing the same thing with his neighbor. He just needs to make it now, the space is all cleared out.

I like the zamboni idea too. That looked KEWL

Once I cut the tree down in my backyard, I can go about 40' x 90' or so. Only downside is the liner will be over $500, which is a downside.

But having that kind of ice in my backyard would give me a huge woody.

Just buy a shit ton of plastic and duct tape. Why waste money on a liner when plastic should and would work just as well. And duct tape will hold through the winter as long as you put it on while it's dry out.

This tells a bit about me but, what amazes me most isn't how the neighbors worked together, but that they could convince both of their wives to let them do it.

If I had like 25K I would get a refrigerated concrete pad and make ice here, but since I don't have the money for a refrigerated concrete pad, I can't do this and have to settle for the ice rinks here.

That's fucking awesome!

It makes me miss the times my dad used to make us rinks in our back yard. Good times..

It all depends on the size of the pad.
