I agree that Lindy is one of the best in the Bizz, but Darcy?

I have a feeling that if/when we get a new owner, they are going to be very cautious about making personnel changes. As new a new owner, they have to make a good impression with the players and the fans. I just can't see a new owner coming in and immediately make all these drastic changes. And as much as people like to call in and bitch on WGR, I think the general consensus in the area is that most fans have an attachment towards Lindy and they like him. I think a new owner is going to have to do a little bit of PR to generate a good reputation when the reigns are handed over to them.

I agree which makes the idea of promoting Lindy to GM makes sense to me. Maybe the new ownership will be the spark to get this team on the right path though. I'm just an artist, not a hockey guru.

Lindy as GM? I could get behind that. I fully admit a bias towards Lindy, but I truly think he's a great coach and I just want him to stay with the Sabres organization.

Remember that both Lindy's and Darcy's contracts are up at the end of the year, so I think it's safe to say if we are going to see any coaching or GM changes, it's not going to be until next season, regardless if we get a new owner or not.

I don't think Darcy is a bad GM at all, he has just constantly had his hands tied. I fully believe he can do a good job without upper-management breathing down his neck.

If we do get a new owner, he deserves a fair chance.

What are the pros and cons (if any) in the team being sold?

Will all this talk have a positive or negative effect on the team's current play?

Are you hoping for a front office clean-out, or is there anyone salvageable?

Ultimately, HOW can this be a BAD thing?

PRO: This guy is not just a big hockey fan, but a Sabres fan to boot. He's got the resources to make shit happen. Most importantly, he likely won't be an absentee owner.

CON: He may micromanage and not know what-the-fuck he's doing. That's never pretty.

Ownership that is enthusiastic about winning is always a good thing, but despite this guys great background I'm quite certain that he didn't get rich by chasing rainbows or even double rainbows. He's probably going to push hard for the Cup but all good business men have a bottom line.

Yeah I heard that he's a great coach and you can always tell that when your team plays the Sabres, but I'm even more impressed watching the team every game. He's a guy who really gets hockey and people, and he's pretty good at tactics too. I think the secret to longevity in the coaching profession is the ability to adapt without compromise. That means that you have to be stern in what you're selling to those guys or they will have their doubts, but at the same time realize that change is good.

The Sabres being sold is no surprise really.
And the person that is buying them makes perfect sense from several angles, some hockey related, some not.

The underlying questions here should be just a couple, and they pretty much answer themselves if you dig deep enough to find them. But first, a big thank you to Tommy Golisano. For saving the team from the treachery of the Rigas'. Thank you Mr. Golisano. Fans may bitch, we can afford that luxury, you went out and got it down for the area. My hats off to you. God Speed in your lifes journey.

This team is going to improve significantly over the next couple of seasons. And the fans should be thankful that it is landing in the hands of a hockey fanatic, and one that has ties to the area.

Mr. Pegulas is a good fit as owner of the Sabres. With strong ties to WNY through his wife, who is also a big fan of the team.
He is also something this area has needed for a while.
