Did I miss a link or something? How do you know this?

He seems to have a source close to the sabres.

No offense to slesh, but I don't think he knows anything more than any of us do.

I was anxious to hear slesh's response to this but he didn't give one.

What would you like?
The names and addresses of people I know and have had meetings and do business with from time to time?

I have no source with the Buffalo Sabres.
The only individual I know remotely close to the Sabres themselves is a friend that works with the Portland Pirates.
Have known him for quite a few years before I started posting on message boards.

I do happen to know a number of individuals in the Energy Industry (since I work, in the energy industry). And I've happened to have had some inter-action with East Resources, specifically their upper management and General Counsel. I still speak to these individuals from time to time on a project or 2 my firm has come across.
The conversations have a small segment of small talk, which happens to include the subject of their former majority owner, Mr. Pegula. As I stated, I met him once in an introduction and hand shake at an energy conference in NYC last year through a 3rd party industry acquaintance.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, at face value, call it what you will.

Like I said, I have a real disdain for Regier, with the new owner coming in, I'm not worried about Quinn. But if Regier stays on beyond this season, I have real concerns.

you need to give Darcy at least one year without the Quinncuffs... at least one season!!!

You remind me of Bull.....the Lalime fan

I rather have Marty back BUT the only reason(s) I like LaLa is because Miller likes LaLa and because LaLa seems like a good team guy, always pumped after a win etc... does that help him between the pipes, not really... could we have better talent there, sure... could you have a better teammate there... not sure about that...

If all they want to backup Miller is a rah-rah guy who is swiss cheese when he actually plays, I could make myself available a couple nights a week. :)

Well you said the sale "is going down". I just wanted to know if that was optimism or you actually knew something. I know about your career and the people you've met, but still no answer to my question. :|

To PSP:
I hear what you and others of your opinion are saying, and I understand where you are coming from.
Its tough to let go of that which we are accustomed to. As a species (human beings), we always covet what we see, and in this case, many have known little to nothing other than Regier.

To Everyone else:
Darcy Regier must be held accountable for his actions, both "GOOD" and "BAD", during his tenure as GM of the Buffalo Sabres.
This includes taking responsibility for the dismantling of a "STANLEY CUP CONTENDING TEAM"!
Whether or not you all wish to acknowledge that yes, he did in fact, have a heavy hand in that situation is completely up to you as individuals. It's your opinion, and as I told PSP, I can understand that, you are all curious to see what Darcy can do "without Quinn" involved in the decision process. For my part, NO THANK YOU!
He has already shown me his character as a GM over the past 13 years with or without Quinns input.

At some point and time, Darcy Regier will be held to account for his more than obvious short comings as a GM, regardless of his "almost had it" successes. He simply cannot be allowed to fail, over and over and over and over and over again. Thats my take on it and always will be.

How many teams over Darcy's run as GM have been as successful? I understand the need/want for a cup... but you don't make the play-offs and make some deep runs into the play-offs without having an idea what you are doing as GM...

The Sabres should probably have at lease two cups under Darcy (Foot in the crease & the year we lost about every defenseman we had)... those should be the cups you are clamoring for...

If Darcy wins one of those do you see him in a different light?

The man has spent over 1000 games as GM of the Sabres with the same coach... that is unheard of in todays world of sports! Does that mean we should give Lindy and Darcy a free pass... no... but it does mean that you need to look at all the circumstances. the good and the bad... look at the recent drafts... look at the recent signings... see how this team has been competitive year in year out... maybe not as competitive as you want, but competitive ...

If you can Darcy who do you bring in? If Darcy goes someplace else and wins do you regret not giving him one more at bat?

You have given him over 1000 games! Give him 82 more! Let him prove you right or wrong on the ice!

The short answer:

Slesh doesn't know anything more than we do. He's speculating based on the reported information.

Okay cool. I was hoping to hear Dreger mention something about the Sabres at the BOG meeting last night but he just mentioned the Phoenix situation. Hopefully something is brought up today.

IF he isn't present during this meeting, when is the next BOG? Basically, how many times during the season do they meet?

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

Not sure of the exact number, but I do know they meet on or around the trade deadline.

That's what I thought too. I wonder if, a sale is worked out sometime in Jan/Feb, they would be able to call a special BOG to discuss/agree upon the sale?

Recap of the meetings. Mentions Hulsizer addressing the board, but not Pegula. :/

It makes perfect sense that Pegula wouldn't be there if the sale wasn't a done deal.

We can extrapolate then that the sale probably isn't yet a done deal.
