http://www.popcrunch.com/kathy-griffin- ... -fat-joke/

Griffin has run the gauntlet of plastic surgery, lipo-suction, and who knows what eating disorders in succumbing to the pressures of Hollywood for fame and money. Of course she, like so many other TV personalities, will resort to the easy punching-bag topics and people that they think will provide the yuk-yuks (at least it's yuk-yuks to her kind). Never-the-less, her lame jokes are a step lower considering her hypocrisy and the level of responsibility celebrities should have (especially female celebs) about weight issues for young women. I already thought Griffin was an obnoxious and very un-funny industry whore, but now I know she's also a plastic hypocrite.

Meh.

She went for a joke and missed. Lots of comics make fun of other people who have gone through the same problems they have. Artie Lang spent years cracking jokes about cokeheads and heroin addicts, then we found out he was a cokehead and heroin addict.

I don't think it's that big a deal, aside from the fact that Brison Palin is somehow immune to any criticism.

Ted Haggard here in Colorado Springs, though not a comic, made a living telling his flock how they would go to hell if they had gay sex while high on meth......

Meh, Kathy is an ugly freak show who would do and say anything to be relevant. She's a bottom feeder.

Who really gives a shit? It's Kathy Griffin...an unfunny, crass comedian. Usually comedians don't have many boundaries on who they'll insult for a quick laugh.

Besides, I think Bristol Palin is the only contestant on DWTS to gain weight while on the show anyways.

Immune??? More like a dead horse. Does anybody really want to hear ANOTHER Palin joke? If it weren't for the portion of the lib crowd that drools over this stuff, a Palin joke would be a flat out admission of, "I don't have one funny thing to say tonight because my routine is completely unoriginal and I suck as a comedian".

It's like hearing another joke about how scary looking Pelosi is. I know...I get it...hardy har.

You might be right...I don't watch the show. It seems to me an even lower step into the crass and unfunny realm, considering the social/psycho issues behind it and Griffin's own history.

Some people find Palin jokes funny. This one was at least somewhat topical; who gains weight when putting forth that much physical exertion? (Why was the daughter of a former governor even qualified as a 'star' to be on that show in the first place? Also some humor to be found there. )

Big deal. If you don't find her funny, then you don't. I agree with you; she's pretty much a hack comic. However, you're missing my point. If Griffin made a fat joke about a Kardashian, nobody would hear a thing about it. But since she dared be comically critical of something Palin, it makes the news.

Yeah, I don't get why Palin was on the show either, aside from a jump-the-shark ratings ploy. Griffin had to know the joke would bomb with that crowd though...no pun intended.

Good comics will take a chance with that sometimes though. (I'm not saying Griffin is one of them.) They'll go for a joke that either kills, or blows up in their faces. Memorably, Gilbert Gottfried dropped a 9/11 joke during the roast of Hugh Hefner, 1 month after the attacks, that completely bombed. I think now it would go over better, but at the time, it was too soon. He recovered nicely though, with one of the most foul versions of The Aristocrats joke every told in public.

I'm no DWTS fan at all, but I read something that they now want TODD Palin to do it. The things these shows will do for ratings.

i love those "go deep" jokes. at pam andersons roast, courtney love was clearly on something. jeffrey ross took a shot and said "jesus, courtney, you look worse then kurt!" i laughed. really really really hard. the crowd? meh.. some did. some were all.. woah, he went there?

also, at bob sagets roast, norm macdonalds purposely flat act was really funny, mainly because the joke was on everyone else.

but kathy griffin sucks. so. yeah.

1. dancing with the "stars" never has included any "stars" as far as I can tell...more like B-list and down. So I don't see why people get bent about Bristol on there
2. Kathy Griffin has never been funny

I laughed. The Palins want to be media whores, let them be subject to the criticisms. That family's successes in politics are about on par with Paris Hilton's successes as an actress. They're basically redneck socialites.

Prolly shouldn't watch Lisa Lampanelli 1980...

Bristol Palin was actually a bigger star than many others they had on this season, who I had never heard of. Mike "the Situation"? Who the fuck is this guy and why do I care? Audrina Patrich? Same thing. Bristol was actually one of their bigger "stars", as hard as that is to believe.

I hate that I'm going to do this, but everyone else that was on this season is at least successful somewhere in the entertainment business.

The Hoff' - Nuff said
Michael Bolton - Music sucks, but lots of people bought it
Margaret Cho - Sometimes funny comic
Mike Sorrentino - Reality show douchebag, somehow a decently rated reality show
Florence Henderson - Carol Brady
Audrina Patridge - Reality show douchebagette
Rick Fox - Former NBA player
Kurt Warner - Former NFL QB, Always has God on his side, not sure how he could lose
Brandy - R&B singer, won some Grammys
Kyle Massey - Disney Channel product, was on some shows or something
Jennifer Grey - Nobody puts Baby in the corner, Ferris Bueller's sister

Now, add Briston Palin to this list.

Bristol Palin - Daughter of Sarah Palin, Born-again virgin

That doesn't seem out of place to you? All those other folks have actually DONE something. The only thing Bristol Palin has ever done was had the fortune to be the child of someone in the national political conversation. If Chelsea Clinton was on this show I'd have the same opinion of it. I don't really care about this show , or the Palin family that much for that matter, but it's pretty damn obvious that all those other people have actually DONE something that could sorta classify them as a star of some kind. Bristol hasn't.

seriously...meh...wastes, the lot of them.

To play devil's advocate, I'd argue Bristol Palin has had more of an effect on any of our lives than any of the other people. She was part of the national discourse and debate in the middle of a Presidential election. Her as baggage just added to the sucking of her mother as a candidate and probably had some impact, however small, on the outcome of the election.

Who the fuck is Audrina Patridge any why would I know her?
Is she a celebrity? More so than Palin?

*emphatic and heartfelt MEH*

Bristol Palin wasn't a Reality show douchebagette until after DWTS. Her claim to fame before the show started was....what exactly?

Audrina Patridge was on that fake reality show The Hills back in 06. (I had to look that up.. :p ) Yes, she's a reality show skank, but she's at least been on TV for 4 years. Bad TV maybe, but still.

Take a random sample of Americans and ask them if they know who Bristol Palin is and if they know who Audrina Patridge is.

Guess who wins.

How exactly are you defining "celebrity"?
