Mike's already stated he's pulling for the Sabres.

Wonder who Irony will be rooting for tonight?

If I recall, Irony has said he hates the Wings.

Don't remember or not.

So far early this season we have been playing a system very similar to the wings. Puck containment is key, tough defense that stems straight into the offense, and a good no holds barred forecheck with 2 guys going down low are all key components . We have held onto the puck and outshot our oppenents every game so far. This is going to be really freaking hard to do against the Wings though.... They have been playing this style for years and have perfected it. No Mule is good news but this game should help be pretty telling at where stand against the leagues best. Lets Go Buffalo!

Montador has been pretty quiet on the physical side of things, at least in respect to what I was expecting. Maybe tonight he will have a big hit, or drop the gloves, which would bolster his value IMHO.

Call me crazy, but I think his outlet passes are better than Spacho's.

I haven't seen him turn the puck over yet. Spacho was good for at least 1 a game.

Hey Crazy,

I think I agree with you. Montador doesn't take as many risks as Spacho did, and doesn't create as many 2-1 for the other team - Montador won't get as many points, but he definitely clears the crease better than Spacho did.

I enjoyed watching Spacho take a lazy hooking penalty last night (as we've all seen before), and smaking his donut sucking lips on the way to the sin bin!!!

I like Montador's point-shot. As a goalie, I know that I'd dread that fucker coming at me, around ankle-high.

If he keeps his shots down, and the forwards learn to play a bit further out (for the big rebound) I believe this team will enjoy many more scoring chances.

Montador may not have been in fights yet, though I think I remember him dropping gloves but being restrained, but he does protect Miller and is always pushing bodies around after the whistle if they get too close to him. Just his presence comes with a reputation of a guy who takes no shit, which prevents a lot of players from taking liberties.

he might get more of a chance to take risks now that he won't have to stay back because sekera was supposed to be the offensive force. Lydman is a bit more defensive minded and probably won't take as many shots coming off that hand injury. But hopefully he'll still be responsible.

It's good to have TWO guys sticking up for your goalie.

Rivet was the only one last year, especially With the Goose out for extended periods of time.

Yeah, he dropped the gloves this year, he just wasn't allowed to fight.

I really like Montador so far. Very solid defensively, surprisingly solid offensively, and a good physical presence.
