True, but of the 38 shots, not many were good ones. The Pens had far more quality shots than we did.

Miller had some highlight reel stops but overall Fleury was better. The 4th goal was Miller's fault besides the lack of D.
Stats don't tell the truth very often but this season Miller is just as good as his stats and they are mediocre.

Miller blew the game. It's really that simple, and I'm sure he knows he didn't play well. I could see one of those 4 goals going in, but 4 iffies is never good. Yes the team is a turnover machine in their own zone and yes Miller bailed them out several times, but that doesn't change the fact that he is paid to stop the vast majority of iffie goals. The Sabres system (or lack thereof) is built around his ability to come up with those saves. They are d-zone risk takers, I don't like it anymore than you but that's what they are.

Miller was far from a brick wall tonight. You can admit that much.

Stuffed chicken marsala. Emm Emm Emmmmm Yummy

Iffie by Mr. Miller's standards. I was very surprised that he wasn't razor sharp for this one, I thought he would rise to the challenge and stop letting the Penguins own him. Maybe next time.

Sure. He wasn't himself. He was also the victim of a couple fluky goals off skates.

Hardly 'iffy'.

Wanna know what Miller DID do tonight? He shutdown Crosby. The Sabres have successfully shutdown Ovie, Kovy, Crosby, Stamkos, the Sedins, and the Sharks big three this season. While this loss pissed me off to no end, that little fact made me smile.

OK so they didn't shut down the Sedins per se, but they never looked dangerous.

Crosby was lucky to get that secondary assist on the one goal.

A few notes from the game:

Pens fans are the worst opposing fans I've ever seen at our arena (Out of NJ, NYR, PHI, OTT, BOS, WAS, TB, CAR, ATL, FLA, CHI, NASH, COL, CAL, DAL, PHO, SJ). There were a few tossed for fighting, and they tried to crumple the flag on the flag pass. If you want to go to an opposing barn and be obnoxious, fine, but don't try to ruin the experience for the home fans. Utterly classless.

Talbot put Ennis in the headlock after Ennis skated over and grabbed him, to be fair.

Vanek is our best forward, not Roy, especially not right now. I wish Roy would find what he had at the beginning of the season and get it back. Last 10 games - 0g, 7a, -4. That's unacceptable.

Get Gerbe off that top line. Jesus Christ, what a fucking waste of a player. Tyler Ennis or Luke Adam please. I wonder if Ruff was trying to inflate his point totals to use him as trade bait. Whatever the case is, it's a failure. Fuck put Hecht up there, anyone that can keep our two best guys from having to play 2 on 5 every night.

Speaking of Tyler Ennis, he was our best player tonight.

I don't know how contracts and that stuff really works, but any way we can get Gerbe off the team and keep Adam or Mancari up permanently is fine by me.

Gerbe out means a healthy Timmy, Staff and/or Neids... I do agree, he doesn't fit on the top line...

As for the game from what i saw... and please correct me if i am wrong or being to much of a homer on this one... Got to see the game in HD today and man do I LOVE HD hockey...

The tripping call 4 seconds in looked like a bit of BS to me...

Please define Kick and/or kicking motion... from what I saw on a nice big HD TV... is a Pens player's foot turn, knee extend, toe up while skate moves from point A to point B... looked like a pretty distinct kicking motion to me...

Myers got a nice healthy slash on the wrist, which wasn't called, even the Pens announcers commented on it, By the way the Pens announcers are by far, god awful! It was my price for seeing the game in HD... man they are piss poor homers...

Define interference... third period i think... Roy skating in to the left of Pen's net... Puck goes behind the net, Roy goes to the corner and gets crumpled...

Speaking of crumpled... remember when Flury got the high stick call against Roy, if I remember right... did the ref miss the cross check that went along with it? poor dude got high lowed ....

Nice to see Sid get the stink glove!!! Wish the big easy would have lit sid up when he had the chance at center ice... of course if he did, he would have been tossed and suspended for life... so i guess its best that he pulled up...

I think they fought hard... I think they caught some really bad calls and/or missed calls... I think the arena sounded extremely quite until the 3rd... I think im sick of losing to the pens...

I thought the call was a hook, and it looked legit to me.

I couldn't tell if it hit their foot, our foot, or our stick. We really didn't get a good look at it in the arena.

Weber got a standing ovation for that, and the crowd was pretty loud throughout the entire penalty kill.

Crosby barely got out of the way of Myers, but he actually almost put himself in a worse position in doing so. He came very close to basically headbutting Myers' elbow.

There were a lot of Pens fans there. There was a group of about 20 in section 301 that must have had block tickets.

OH and CV, did you see the sid partial break a way when monte got called for slashing... from the replay i saw, it looked like monte clearly swung for the slash... but on the replay it didn't look like he connected... it looked like monte whiffed on the slash.... so was it 2 min for attempted slashing?

I didn't think he connected either. One way or another, it was a really weak slash, the kind that almost never gets called because 99% of the NHL does it to every guy they're skating behind with the puck.

Kicking motions, well it all depends on who is playing, what team it is against, and what Toronto feels like doing.

There is no set rule on the kicking motion. I've seen clear kicking motion and the goals stand, and I've seen where they turn the foot and no goal. It's garbage as I've seen it.

2007 Playoffs, Alfredsson's skate clearly turned and kicked, goal upheld. The San Jose against the Flyers a few days ago, same play Alfredsson did, goal rescinded.

thats what i thought.... where as the cooke slash to Myers wrist gets called 99% of the time...

its just frustrating to watch the NHL some times... too damn inconsistent... reminds me of the play-offs last year... calling games just too inconsistently... i wish there was a fix cause it really pisses me off and makes me not want to watch.... can i blame bettmen... prick bastard that he is...

again as i just posted, no damn consistency... its bull shit... stop with the gray area crap... go one way or the other...

one, if a puck hits a skate it is NOT a goal

or

two, kick, redirect, what ever, just keep your hands off the puck...

this gray area inconsistency with this league is garbage.... and im blaming bettmen, prick bastard that he is...

Luke Adam isn't doing to well, either. He only has 2 points.

Luke Adam is one year removed from Jrs. He gets a little slack I think.
