Slesh- I love your reviews man, but you're slacking here!

I'll try to grab the reins and get this thread going since I'm anxious to hear what others think about this game.

I know there are a couple people here who might hate me for saying this, but IMO Miller blew this game for us. Yeah, a couple bad bounces with those goals off of skates, but I'm thinking he should have had at least one of those. The fourth goal that got "pushed" in should have never happened. I love Miller, but he was off tonight.

I was very impressed with the team's overall play. In fact, I'm really starting to like this season. All I have ever asked or really wanted of this team is for them to put out for 60 minutes EVERY night. And I think they've accomplished that lately; tonight was no different. The games have been very exciting to watch and even when we lose, I'm still pretty happy because of the way we played. Let's hope we can keep up the same intensity for the rest of the season.

Last thing I'd like to comment on- Webers "play" with Crosby. I'm liking Weber more and more every game. I'm a big fan of the physicality that he brings. It took a lot of guts to let Crosby have it like he did but it was warranted and he didn't let him off easy. It's good to see the Sabres not being such a pansy team this year.

... liking this third jersey more and more too :D

I think Slesh is trying to shoot bambi....

I posted some game thoughts in the GDT... as a re cap...

I like how the team fought... some god awful calls and non calls... its frustrating to watch a game knowing you have to beat the ref's too...

the sabres really, really need to start capitalizing on more of there chances... Adam, Pommers, Vanek all had amazing chances to bury it! You need to capitalize on more of those chances.

they need to hold the zone better, seemed like there was a lot of one shot and out of the zone for them tonight...

and why does the PP look like shit again...

the inconsistency in officiating frustrates and irritates the shit out of me... and Im blaming bettmen, prick bastard that he is...

I don't know that you can really fault Miller for this game. Two of the goals came on deflections that were just straight up retarded. What I will say though, is that he's been less than impressive far too often this season, although the same can be said for everyone on the team.

The Pens had a lot of chances on turnovers, so if I had to fault something, I'd say it was poor defensive zone exiting that lost them the game.

Id like to know how you ski on dirt? seems complex...

As for what you missed... a big bag of crap... they fought hard, but the team wasn't sharp enough to beat the pens and refs... miller had, one kicked in, one deflected in, one jammed in (should of stopped that one)... it wasn't a great night... other than sid getting the stink glove.... and sid getting a weak A... no goal though... o and with the pens announcers, I think i rather watch dirt skiing than listen to those morons ever again...

Yeah, the refs did suck tonight and it feels like Buffalo has been fighting an uphill battle against them the last few in particular.

vulgar- Agreed. Miller was unlucky for sure, but he hasn't been on par with what we're used to from him.

The Sabres did make some mistakes tonight but overall I was impressed with their play. I mean we were playing probably the best team in the league right now who happened to be on an ELEVEN game win streak.

oh, luke needs to go back down. He's not ready for this level. And for such a big guy, he sure doesn't play like it, wtf.

Pominville manhandling Cooke was pretty awesome.

Miller has been stellar since he came back from the hip injury. He got unlucky tonight against the hottest team in the NHL. I certainly can't crucify him for that.

Yeah, where in the hot fuck did that come from? I couldn't believe it was Pommers when they showed the replay. Just goes to show how much apparently EVERYONE in the NHL hates Cooke. Weber made Crosby look like a total bitch on that play though. That took the cake for me though. I'm a big fan of Crosby too, but it was nice to see someone, especially a Sabre, smack him around like a used up hooker I have to say

it doesn't seem like ive seen a decent hit since the columbus game... where are Patty and Cody hitting people... And why do our big guys play like lil guys... i know i am exaurating a little with the hits, but it does feel like the guys that should be doing the banging are not and the guy that are capable of doing the banging, don't....

Ah yeah he's definately had some stellar games no doubt, but it seems he's had more off or "unlucky" nights this year. You def have a point with the Pens and how they're the hottest team right now though. I guess when you're 11 games into a win streak you can just toss anything at the net and it'll go in.

Kaleta has really toned it down this year, minus a couple good ones, which really has me boggled?!??

My guess is that injuries are the reason he's not consistently laying the hammer down on people.

Adam and Gerbe need to catch the next bus to Portland. All Adam does is whiff on point-blank shots and Gerbe has been, well, Gerbe. Miller wasn't bad at all, got beaten on impossible deflections on 2 of the goals. The lack of finish continues to haunt this team.

The penguins put out their less than tough lineup versus the Sabres despite being on a winning streak. And they called up and AHL guy (who is really good at soccer too). Basically, Bylsma called the Sabres "pussies" with his roster moves. The Sabres responded very well.

Myers could have and probably should have destroyed Crosby. Especially after Cooke went after him with a slash to defend the honor of his boy toy from Weber's pimp hand.

Miller sucked. Luck has nothing to do with it. All 4 of those goals were very makable saves, he's got to stop at least two of those. The Penguins seem to own him, which is something he needs to work through because I know the Sabres could beat Pittsburgh in a best of seven this season, if he steals a couple games.

Leopold was targeted for turnovers along the boards, and at times he did look overwhelmed but for the most part he played very smart and hung tough in the corners. He won his share of battles for sure.

The team could have used a little more vinegar in front of their own net in this one.

Defensive zone turnovers and the breakout. If the Sabres do not make the playoffs this season, it's because of this. If the Sabres get bumped in the first round again this season, it's because of this. Here's what I would do if I were the coach. Take the entire team out on the ice (even those on light duty). Get a couple buckets of pucks. And practice lifting the puck out of the zone without icing it. Do this for 5 or 6 hours. Incorporate it into every defensive zone drill for a few weeks. The cute, high risk plays need to be minimized. The n-zone and o-zone the Sabres are fine, in fact they look really great most of the time. But if they don't cut back on the constant turnovers in their own zone they will invite a long losing streak that will ruin their season. GET IT OUT. Don't force plays in the d-zone. Manage the puck. Support the puck. Basic. Hockey.

EDIT: I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the stellar job the Sabres did pounding Letang. He was hit hard all game long.

Is there a video of Weber doing whatever he did to Crosby. I have no idea what happened and I want to see it. :(

The highlights of the game show it on Sabres TV.

Or, you could look up. ;)
