Wow, what a misogynistic dickhead. I can't stand those crazy "sports stage parents" who live through their children and take pee-wee level sports way too seriously. It's the age where the kids are supposed to have fun and learn important values that playing on a sports team can implement.

Dealt with stuff like this as both an umpire and as a coach.

Slow pitch softball is a bit of a nightmare since the coaches that have been in the league the longest handpick their favorite (good) players leaving newer coaches like my dad and myself with the "unwanted' players, new players, and good players from the juniors division.

In 09, our first year in the league the team's two best players were two permanent call-ups from juniors who were mediocre players at best. The team went 3-16 and got outscored around 360-100.

This past season we had six girls that had either never played softball before or hadn't played in 5+ years, and our best players were 13 and 14 years old which put us at a serious disadvantage. However, the 13 year old was probably the best player in the league and singlehandedly kept us in games. We only won three games again , but one of those was a playoff game against the second best team in the league, and we lost in the semi-finals by one run.

I mean I understand that parents just want to see their kids do well, but I don't get why it's necessary to stack a slow pitch softball rec. league so 2-3 teams have significantly better rosters than the rest of the league. (The three best teams were 11-1, 10-2, and 8-4 and the rest of the league was 5-7, 4-8, 3-9, and 1-11 (us)). Even worse was the fact that teams had a tendency to run up the score. We lost games 36-3, 24-5, 17-1, 22-6, and 20-4, five of the seven most lopsided losses in the league. What's the motivation in running a league like that?

Ya when I coached little kids soccer over the summer, these kids were in 5th and 6th grade... ok... we were winning a game 3-0, it was a corner kick I was telling the kids what to do, and the kid botched the kick, no big. we were up by 3... (we had the best team btw and had won every game up to that point) anyways, i had a parent yelling behind me and he said "this coach is pathetic and is not teaching this kids jack Shit" well i turned around and politely asked the parent to shut up and him, his wife, and his at least 65 year old father started screaming at me for talking back. I kid you not, the dad said "These kids will be playing modified soccer in a year or two and you haven't taught them a damn thing" I told him that modified is where they were to learn most of the skills needed, my friend and I taught the basics, how to play, what to do in certain situations, nothing fancy, just the bottom line basics. Clearly that mind set worked seeing as we won every game... anyways, I then said... seriously... modified soccer... at this school? are you kidding? And the parent said he wasnt and started yelling more, so i told him to leave the game and i would talk to him afterwards. He left right then and there, and his father and wife stayed. After we won 4-1, the wife and father said, good game you were right, while the dad of the kid never showed up to talk. Seriously, parents take little kids sports too damn seriously, and need to stfu and just enjoy it. Its like if you dont like how the coach is doing things, then get your ass off the sideline and coach the next year. Stupid Bastards.... /end Rant.

So ya i know how this shit is, it sucks, its stupid, parents are dumb, and shouldnt be allowed to say jack shit to coaches about the players unless its some kinda health concern or something...

Oh yeah we got the you suck as a coach stuff last year too since the team was so bad. Like we have basically 6 first year players, what do you want? You're lucky we have Zoey* who can bat .700, play half the infield by herself and is the fastest runner in the league otherwise it would be worse. By the end of the year we beat the 10-2 team in the playoffs and lost to the 8-4 team by 1 run.

*Literally one girl on the team accounted for 25% of the total runs scored, 20% of the RBIs and 35% of the team's defensive outs.

If I were the coach, I'd banish him from entering the rink.

While we're on the topic of jerk parents...

When I was in about 7th grade I was playing catcher for my jr baseball team, so a kid attempts to steal second base. The base ump proceeded to get down about 8 feet in front of the base, directly in my line of throwing. I proceeded to bean his ass in the head, to which point he stood up and yelled "doesn't that kid have an arm?" I didn't hear what he said, so I asked the batter who was laughing at him what he said, heard the explanation, and started laughing myself.
My dad one of my team's assistant coaches, however, was not amused. He tried talking to the umpire who was still being a little bitch about being hit in the head (I know it didn't hurt him THAT much, I think he was filling out a butthurt report form) My dad didn't start yelling at him, but it was the closest I've ever seen him come to beating anyone down in my life.
