I noticed this article yesterday in the New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/22/sport ... youth.html

Youth teams in Minnesota are being awarded with extra points for taking fewer penalty minutes through education on on ice safety and avoiding situations that would create injuries, rough play, and fighting.

That is a really cool idea. Very nicely done. Good for youth hockey.

I agree very much. Though the rough side of hockey is entertaining at times, it can lead to many negative instances that could end one's career or life. Keeping it simple to the right things to be done is a big positive forward.

Is this practice being done elsewhere besides Québec and Minnesota?
