Connolly for sure, I would think. Montador and Grier, maybe?

I think they should aggressively try to sign Montador, he and Leopold make a solid top 4 pairing.

3.5 for each of 3 years would probably get it done.

Just trade Rivet for whatever you can get.

Agreed, no way are they getting rid of Monty, dude has been stellar. Him and Leopold need to stay around.

Rivet needs to be taken out behind the barn and shot. (metaphorically, I am not advocating murder)

I think Roy being out wouldn't even be a big deal if any of our first or secondary scorers were doing anything resembling their jobs. Connolly, Pominville, Stafford, Hecht, Ennis, Gerbe, these guys are simply not showing up. Vanek is pretty ineffectual at most times, leaving us with...basically nothing, even with roy IN the lineup. I'd like to see a lot of fresh faces in here, and i'm starting to think Lindy needs to go as well, he is simply not extracting the best out of his players.

If put on IR, his $4million does come off the cap for whomever asked that.

Making a trade involving one of the D in exchange for a serviceable center seems like it almost has to happen. Connolly could move up to #1 center, but I don't think Adam is ready to play in the 2 or 3 spot, and neither is Gaustad. Ennis (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong) is or was a center in juniors, but he's really faded away since October, and I think he's been given more ice time and responsibility than he can handle right now already. So promoting him doesn't seem a viable option.

Basically we're fucked unless a major move is made.

Poor Lindy is going to have to get real creative. I guess that means we'll be seeing more of the guys down in Portland, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Let's see if our offensive guys can step up and make a difference. Stafford and Vanek have shown flashes of getting hot, maybe they can remain consistent. Pominville needs to start scoring too.

One can only hope...

Maybe they could give Pittsburgh Vanek, Connolly, Enroth, and either Weber or Sekera in exchange for Malkin.

I definitely agree they need to sign Monty soon. With his +10 he will be sought out by teams looking for a veteran defenseman. I think he should be given the C too

If we trade Monty I'm cutting myself.

Big blow for this team. Roy was their best playmaking center. With Roy out of the lineup it will be hard to replace his playmaking ability and Vanek should slow down even more.
Hate to say this but top 5 pick here we come if Buffalo can keep this pace. I'm sure alot of you will be pissed at this but lets face it this team isn't good at all and needs to drop some slugs and rebuild with some talent upfront on offense. Yes it's going to take sometime but I have been saying this for a long time now the only way this team will get serious talent is thru the draft because Darcy can't and won't shake things up some with his current core of garbage.

A top-5 pick is just what this team needs. If we can pick up a legitimate NHL-ready (or not far-off) #1 center, things will start looking very good, very fast. Getting a healthy Roy to be a number-2 center would make the 2nd line look dangerous

This is supposed to be a very deep draft from what I've heard.

The only good thing from this injury is they can totally tank and get Sean Courturier.

Couldn't agree more but others on here will probably give me shit because I want them to tank. This team isn't going anywhere anyways. Sorry but grabbing a #1 center or 1st line player is just what this team needs. With Foligno and Kassian both making Team Canada and both looking real impressive in pre-tournament action this bodes well for the future of this team.

Who's playing on a line with Kassian and Foligno for team Canada at the WJHC. Imagine those 3 in the top 6 together in Buffalo in a year or two.

Anybody else have an erection?

I'll go out on a very short limb and say the front office will do nothing. They'll allow the young guys more ice time and let the season go downhill. I'm fine with that because this group (at least this season) isn't going anywhere. May as well get a better draft position for once in a while.

I hope that they don't do some lame small gesture move so they can say they tried. I would be very happy with new ownership and a dismantling of this team in the Spring.

Ouch. This will leave a mark. Well they pretty much suck anyway. It seems most teams play their backups against the Sabres, which tells you something right there.

Get a high draft pick and lets move on. :)

Yeah, maybe in 3-5 years
