Ok, I call bullshit on Kaleta's excuse why he didn't return

I honestly think Kaleta over-exaggerated how hurt he was to get the added penalty-time. Yeah, the hit was bad, but the first thing I thought was that he actually wasn't all that hurt. He got up and skated off on his own power and sat on the bench.

What he said was simply what Ruff told the media to say, along the lines of "just tell them something stupid happened." They don't want him saying that his head hurt because then the NHL would have to step in and do something about it.

Cmon, really?

That was a 5 and a game no matter if Kaleta was hurt or not. Let me tatto you into the boards from behind like that, and you tell me how fast you're going to bounce right back up.

It's mind boggling how much people go out of their way to shit on Kaleta sometimes.

I was just kidding around, if you're addressing me squanto. Making light of the fact that Kaleta has cried wolf many times before.

I'm not trying to be a dick here, nor am I justifying the hit at all, but I think that Kaleta knew there was a pretty good chance he was going to get boarded. I remember thinking that as I watched the play unfold, I was like Kaleta's going to get boarded...yep. Like I said, not trying to be a dick, or start the Pominville fiasco all over again, but that's just what I felt.

Hard to tell from the replay if Kaleta saw Blake coming or not. From the looks of things no. Either way, it's Blakes responsibility to let up or peel around to go shoulder to shoulder and not hit a guy square in the numbers.

Listen, I like Kaleta and all, but if you watch the whole thing unfold, he kind of braces himself before he falls. Not only did he know he was going to get hit, but he knew what to do after he got hit. It's not beyond reason to believe that he stayed down for a little extra effect. Besides, they put two minutes on the penalty board before Kaleta stayed down long enough for them to switch it to 5 and a game.

Edit: I'm not even speaking ill of him, I'm just saying it was a nice tactic, if it was one.

Here's my view on it. If Kaleta continues to skate up the ice like any normal human being, and chip it in normally, he takes a little smush, which used to be considered the price you pay to dump it in. For whatever stupid reason, he chips it in, and turns to the boards? It doesn't even make sense, cuz after you chip it in, you chase it. Whatever, I don't want to get in a full blown over it, but I saw it live, and it has struck me as strange since the first time I saw it.

Even if he did that, he drew the misconduct. May not be the best career move, but damnit if it didn't pay off.

He squared himself to the puck, so he wouldn't fan/miss on the chip-in. Then he likely continued with that motion to turn around and go to the bench for a line change. He didn't nearly have enough speed to be dumping the puck in to skate after it.

Quite possibly yes, but he doesn't appear to be peeling back. I think he sold you on it as good as he did the ref(jk).

He drew a penalty. Why are people complaining about this? It's what we pay him to do.
