The assertion that the plays are not dirty because the injuries to the victims were not severe is a piss poor homer argument. Yes, hockey players are tough, and their equipment makes them resistant to injury. That doesn't excuse questionable hits and dangerous stickwork. Enforcers stick tap each other on the shoulder all the time, and a gloved punch to the head usually doesn't do anything to a guy, but that doesn't excuse Bertuzzi and it doesn't excuse McSorely. And with Malkin's proclivity for questionably play, he's beelining towards a similar incident.

I brought McSorely in to refute your assertion that retaliation, or "fucking someone else up harder" is not a laudable action, same reason I brought up the Hollweg - Simon incident. And also to illustrate the point that just because an action doesn't have an intent towards dire consequences (and I don't think Malkin has intended to injure anyone, just like McSorely didn't mean to hit Brashear in the head), doesn't mean that the act itself isn't dirty.

Little clarification though,

Transcend means to surpass, to go above and beyond an extreme positive, or beneath and below an extreme negative, not to transition from a positive attribute into a negative one, or vice versa. If you're going to use a large word to attempt to redeem opinions of your intelligence, you might want to at least do it right.
