I love it when a star player dishes back a fraction of the grief he gets and then gets MORE of a bad label then them. I'm sure somebody could make a very long youtube library out of all the times he gets hit like those and plays right through it and doesn't flop like a fish. Beautiful irony.

All I can tell you CV is Malkin got his Cup ring by playing with guts and passion. He doesn't cry when he's made the victim, he goes out and fucks somebody else up. He's no dirtier than half the players in the NHL.

Right, and McSorely trying to tap Brashear on the shoulder with his stick worked out well...
And Hollweg returned to the game after this hit, does that make it not dirty?

The assertion that the plays are not dirty because the injuries to the victims were not severe is a piss poor homer argument. Yes, hockey players are tough, and their equipment makes them resistant to injury. That doesn't excuse questionable hits and dangerous stickwork. Enforcers stick tap each other on the shoulder all the time, and a gloved punch to the head usually doesn't do anything to a guy, but that doesn't excuse Bertuzzi and it doesn't excuse McSorely. And with Malkin's proclivity for questionably play, he's beelining towards a similar incident.

Kaleta's borderline play is immaterial. This discussion is about Malkin being a dirty player, not Malkin being dirtier/less dirty than other players.

But Kaleta makes the same plays sometimes, and he's less dirty than Malkin to you, correct?

Not really, but everyone calls Kaleta dirty, no one but Phil and I call Malkin dirty. Although your sentence implies that you think Kaleta is less dirty. "same plays sometimes."

Sabres fans will admit Kaleta is dirty. Penguins fans will never call Malkin dirty. Easy as that.

That fact that you're blurring truly malicious attacks with the feeble wannaba Ovechkin cheap shots Malkin takes is hilarious. :P

Strange, how you failed to include the malicious knee on knee hit Ovechkin put on Gonchar that had him miss games as one of your examples of "questionable play". Good luck finding a single hit of Malkin's that leads with the knee. Please pay equal tenant to the true cheap shot artists instead of trying to fulfill whatever secret vendetta you have with Malkin and/or myself. Lord knows what that must be.

I'm not a major Pens fan anymore, but for what it's worth he is as dirty as half the leagues players are. He dishes out 1/3 of the cheap shots he takes without whining about it.

Why would I? This conversation is not about Malkin compared to other players, it is about Malkin himself. (And for the record, I have always called Ovie a dirty player.)

The fact that you keep bringing up other players means that you agree with me that Malkin is dirty and you're trying to use a favorable comparison to make him look better.

I brought McSorely in to refute your assertion that retaliation, or "fucking someone else up harder" is not a laudable action, same reason I brought up the Hollweg - Simon incident. And also to illustrate the point that just because an action doesn't have an intent towards dire consequences (and I don't think Malkin has intended to injure anyone, just like McSorely didn't mean to hit Brashear in the head), doesn't mean that the act itself isn't dirty.

They aren't even in the same atmosphere, you're reaching, and it's transcending funny and entering sad.

I respect your right to have an opinion, though not the opinion or the opinion giver.

Little clarification though,

Transcend means to surpass, to go above and beyond an extreme positive, or beneath and below an extreme negative, not to transition from a positive attribute into a negative one, or vice versa. If you're going to use a large word to attempt to redeem opinions of your intelligence, you might want to at least do it right.

Yeah you're smarter than me, you and your other board buddies seem really good at math, grammar, spelling, and using the internet to express yourself. But I'm not the one lumping Malkin in with McSorely. That transcends your butthole and enters the back of your head.
