So did hundreds of other lawmakers. Do you have a specific reason this one would be targeted for that vote?

There's been some reports of vandalism at her offices during the time of vote, and some shit she's gotten since then. Nothing that would indicate something like this was coming, but not sure how you could have predicted that.

Surgeon has said that he is optimistic about Gifford's recovery.

The doctor just said that she's out of surgery. She's in critical condition, but he said he's optimistic about her recovery. The shot she took went straight through.

One death so far. Sounds like the child.

This is so fucked. I'm so happy she's alive and that the other patients are still alive. Terrible news about the poor child.

i think, and thats one thing i love about this group, is the lack of finger pointing has been put on hold till we hear more. also, i dont think now is the time for it either.

I know this is a morbid statement, but the shooter is a fucking dumbass on a practical level.

Assuming this was politically motivated.
Assassinating a member of the minority...a deep minority, will have no political impact whatsoever.

I just get the feeling there's something more to this...something personal maybe.

When they are in their "home" state there isn't alot of protection. The US Capital Police is a fairly small agency and can not be everywhere for them. Local LE normally don't get involved unless specifically requested.
