I never fucking said that.

I said that the premise of Bucky's article that Briere was excited to see Pegula take over the team is bullshit. I'd be willing to bet that before it was brought up to him, Briere didn't even know these was a sale in the works.

"Bullshit" comes across as pretty vague.

Besides, how can you be so positively sure about that article? Did you talk to Danny or something?

I'd bet with confidence that Briere knew all about the potential sale. There are 23 players in a locker room that he hangs out with every day, as well as coaches, scouts, and other members of the organization that he spends time around.

Even if he doesn't keep tabs on the rest of the NHL by himself like many players do, I'd have a hard time believing that not one of the people in that organization casually said, "see what's going on with your old team?"

ESPECIALLY if he was bitter about the way his exit from Buffalo went down.

If Briere didn't want to be quoted talking about a new owner, don't base the premise of the article on his exictement...that he doesn't want known.

The premise and title of the article has nothing to do with the body of the article. Nuff said.

The article basically talked about the mistakes made by this organization, and about how on the day that Pegula comes to HSBC, one of the glaring mistakes was on the visitor's bench torching the Sabres all night.

I don't think it was a terrible article. Sometimes, it seems like people just want to jump down Bucky's throat for the fuck of it.

I don't have an issue with us speculating if Briere cares/doesn't care/etc about the sale. Maybe you believe he does. I don't. No biggie.

I do have an issue with Gleason making similar assumptions. He's a reporter for a newspaper. He presented this idea that Briere was excited for Pegula as fact, when it was clearly speculation, with the intent to attract readers who are desperate for any news of this sale.

Clearly that worked.

Then he should have based his article on that fact and told that story, not made up a connection to Pegula where there was none.

It's connected to the way Briere felt when he left town. It's connected to the way Sabres fans felt when Briere left town.

The fans were on the same page as Briere; not ownership, and Briere knows that. That's why he'd be excited for us Sabres fans to have a new owner, who wouldn't let shit like this happen to the fans or players.

That's why it's all tied together. That's how I took it.

I think the main point is that we could all speculate about Briere's reaction to the sale but unless he says that he's excited, a journalist should specify that it is speculation.

That sums up my feelings quite succinctly.

i speculate briere holds a special place in his heart for buffalo, and hopes to see them succeed outside of his own success, and sees hope for the future going forward for the franchise.

thats my guess, and im sticking to it.

If he had proof, he would have put it in the article.

Um.......first off....wy wouls he not include it in the article if he had proof? Secondly....what the fuck are we arguing about here? This is just plain stupid. Nothing in the article shows that Briere is excited....end of the story. If he is, well yippee skippy for him.

All the speculating put aside (or is it? :D)
Briere is just happy as hell to see Regier fired since he put Danny 2nd fiddle to Drury in offering a contract. Briere sticks it to Buffalo everytime he plays us it seems like anyways.
I would to if Regier did to me what he did to Briere.
