Just for the record, I could see the owners box tonight from my seats and it was full. I heard Pegula was not at the game itself, but it is still interesting that it was full, mainly because Paychex employees cant sit in there anymore.

More of Pegula's minions were doing their due diligence at HSBC arena yesterday.

http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.as ... 90&catid=4

Quote:
There was every indication the due diligence process continued for potential Sabres owner Terry Pegula on Wednesday.

Members of Pegula's group were spotted walking through the locker room area of HSBC Arena well after practice ended. It was unclear if Pegula was still visiting with the Sabres Wednesday. The Sabres confirmed Pegula visited their offices on Tuesday to conduct "informal discussions." In the same statement, the Sabres said both the team and Pegula are declining comment.

A source tells 2-On-Your-Side that the sale process has reached its final stages, and that the due diligence process is a normal part of a complex business transaction. An NHL spokesperson said the deal has yet to reach the league level where Pegula awaits approval of the NHL Board of Governors. That will be the final step in the formal transfer of ownership.

CBC has reported that the approval will come when the Governors meet at the NHL All-Star weekend at the end of January in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Interesting blurb about Pegula in this article.
Quote:
New faces coming

Billionaire Terry Pegula appeared weeks away from purchasing the Sabres, but look for several prospective general managers to get their resumes in order in anticipation of him making major changes. Him assuming ownership has created a steady buzz across the league and beyond.

In a column two weeks ago, Rick Dudley, Don Luce, Jim Benning, Craig Patrick, Claude Loiselle, Jason Botterill, Mike Mudd and Pierre McGuire :violence-rocket: :laughing-rolling: were listed among those who could become available and/or are interested. Feel free to add former Wild GM Doug Risebrough and former Regier underling Larry Carriere to the possibilities.

Sources last week said Sabres minority partner Dan DiPofi is likely headed for the exits whenever Pegula takes over. Managing partner Larry Quinn and Regier are expected to remain through a transition process before departing.

By all accounts, Pegula wants to surround himself with winners and knows keeping Regier would be perceived as accepting status quo mediocrity. Regier didn't know until afterward that the Sabres released a statement acknowledging Pegula's visit to HSBC Arena last week, which was troubling.

God... Bucky again... he's returning to his old ways.

That list of GM candidates that he presents as 'could be available and or/are interested' was a list that BUCKY MADE UP IN A PREVIOUS COLUMN. He presented nothing at the time to indicate that he had spoken to anyone who knew those people were in fact interested. He was simply throwing names out there in a GM fantasy draft.

Now he's sourcing himself to try and give himself some legitimacy. It's nonsense.

yeah but the part about Darcy was interesting and made me sad... but thats ok, as long as he surrounds himself with good hockey people (not necessarily the list Bucky made up) than i'll be ok... and the part about Quinn hanging around made me sad to... Quinn gonna try and weasel himself into a new position?

he's a weasel.... he'll take his millions and then "hang around" so the "transition" goes smoothly... then he'll weasel his way into vice president of operations in charge of beer... next thing you know all you can get at HSBC will be PBR and Genny Cream Ale.... because its more cost effective....

In any acquisition like this a transition team is kept for a short time until the new management team is up to speed. I agree with Tom, Quinn will be gone once the transition team is not needed anymore.

as long as the price was around $2, I'd have no problem at all with PBR at the rink. I'm a bad rochester-arian though. genny =do not want.

Some friends and I bought a 12 pack of PBR on our last camping trip kinda as a joke. Ended up being much better than I remember.:)

I got to a little place in the Falls for a fish fry every Friday that has $2 PBR drafts. Good shit.

Pisswater is piss...doesn't matter what they call it on the label.
I always get amused when people espouse a preference for one over another.

Thank you Gr8daygo for listing the products that can be found at McGregor's Tap room in Rochester

Honestly, I dont think anyone would drink PBR given the choice of solid beer, but when it comes down to Bud Light or PBR...I honestly don't see the difference, they are both piss, and are only borrowed never owned
