I know it's the Globe and Mail, but seriously?

Angry Crosby likely to skip all-star game

Even though Sidney Crosby is a shoo-in to be chosen Tuesday as one of the captains who will pick the teams for the NHL all-star game, do not be surprised if he declines to participate, even if he recovers from his concussion.

The word filtering out of the Pittsburgh Penguins is that Crosby is an angry young man, angry enough to pull his considerable star presence from one of the league’s showcase events because he does not think the NHL is doing enough to protect its players. An NHL source said Crosby is not likely to tell the NHL he is withdrawing from the all-star game to protest the fact neither player who hit him on the head was suspended. However, he could easily decline and cite the need for complete recovery from a mild concussion.

Yeah, there's a bunch of conflicting reports on this. Some are saying that he's pissed about non-calls on the hits that injured him, others are saying there's nothing to those reports, and he's just still hurt.

It's probably just drummed up. He'd have to play in at least the game before the ASG to be allowed to play, and he's still not symptom free from the concussion yet.

This is true, but any reason I can bitch about him, I'll take it. It was either this, or the topic of his lips and those are becoming old news as of late.

In other news, I hate Crosby. Can't ya tell? hahaha

Apparently he was a shoe in for being Captain? I guess the 42 all-star players didn't see it that way.

Fuck the media and all the cock sucking they do on Crosby. If I had to choose between Crosby and a dirty jock strap for Captain I'm not choosing Crosby, he's an overrated captain, and to me still not a captain.

And the WC hit was purely accidental, neither player saw each other, the Washington player was looking up the ice and so was Crosby, that shit happens, the other hit to give him a concussion, I never saw it.

I'm not sure that anyone is suggesting otherwise.

Concussions suck really badly, I had one when I was younger, and I think I had one like 7 or so years ago also. I smacked my head pretty badly that night and ever since I can always tell when I'm getting a migraine from hitting my head.

i think what i was saying is if crosby sits out the game, its injury related and not some grudge over officiating.

I'm not surprised that he feels that way, but I think his anger is irrational. The Steckle hit certainly didn't look dirty, I thought at first that Sid was Diving to get a call but it just looked like an accident. The only thing that I question about that hit-if we even want to call it one-is when Steckle kind of played it off in interviews like he didn't know he hit him. You know, trust me you can feel it a little. So he might have done it on purpose, but even if it was done deliberately how on earth do you call that? Even if you did see the entire thing, what do you call? How do you fine or suspend him? You can't, so Sidney PLEASE stop crying about it. That's just hockey, and the cold hard fact is that the NHL can market your identity like you're a God without showing you any on ice favoritism. You think you got it tough? Talk to your team owner for some stories, it's no wonder he gave up on the NHL.

The other hit was kind of a tough play, didn't look that bad to me, in fact it looked like the helmet absorbed all the damage. Should have been a Roughing minor but that's about it. I think Crosby is confusing the NHL with the NFL.

I really want to listen to some Steelers sports talk on the radio this afternoon, but I'm afraid I'll hear about his crying again. It never ends.

I've had a few in the past as well and I'll agree, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The last one I had back in '04 or '05, recovering from that one really sucked. I don't remember the hit but from what the boys tell me, I tried to get up 3 times and just kept landing on my face. This guy nicknamed "Boomer" ran me from behind and I went in headfirst to the boards. And it was noncontact rec… go figure.

I think what pissed me off about this article (if any of it holds any water) is that if true, because it's Crosby, the league needs to do something to discipline offenders. I've seen plenty of times where two guys had no idea where they were on the ice and crunch. Granted, the NHL has been known to protect its stars with rules, penalties and stiff fines and stuff because at the end of the day, it's the big names that fans come out to see. But I'm yet to see Crosby offer any voice when an average grunt gets plowed and ends up in traction. But because it happened to him they should suspend players? If anyone else has heard him stand up for another player, I will stand corrected and eat crow but to the best of my knowledge, I myself haven’t hear of such a time.

I haven't seen the other hit, but the one from the WC was accidental. That’s just my stance.

Crosby was interviewed today. Said it's all bullshit.

http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=549734

Quote:
On a report that he’s angry the NHL didn’t punish the two headshots and won’t participate in the All-Star Game:
That’s not even close (to accurate). I’ll be there if I can be there and still haven’t ruled out being there. Hopefully, in the next few days things get better. There’s a slight chance I can still be back for that. That’s what I’m hoping. If I can be there, I’ll be there.

Of course, that fucktard Shoalts from the Globe is now saying:

Quote:
Clarification on the fuss around Crosby: It was my opinion that he was angry enough to consider skipping the all-star game.

http://twitter.com/#!/dshoalts/status/27415073467138049

Really? Cause that didn't read like an opinion piece.

Now now, if you have a problem with what he's saying report him, don't call him a fucktard in front of everyone. ;)

Damn dude, first Bucky with his GM list and now this!?

You'd swear reporters and beat writers are becoming less & less credible these days.

Yeah I saw this and it didn't jive with something Crosby would do.
