Yeah, I guess that's fair. I guess I tend to shy away from giving goalies a ton of credit because their play is dependent on the rest of the team more so than any position.

Well that's where we differ. I've always been a little biased towards goalies, where you seem to be the opposite.

Oh, 20-20-5, back to .500, can we please get over .500 for the next game?

20-20-5 is not .500

If you go by points earn out of what you can get, it is .500. 45 points out of 90 points possible is clearly .500 and that is how the NHL does their percentages since this is not in the W/L format.

If you want to say that they're .500 in points percentage, then I agree with you.

However, listing a record and then a percentage is a completely different animal. It's just a pet peeve of mine.

Points percentage in the NHL is also a useless exercise. It only has meaning in the regular season, and has no bearing on the playoff standings or positioning.

I understand what you mean, yea it has no true bearing until the end anyway whenever the person, well team that has the highest point percentage normally wins the president's trophy.

I use it more as a judge of overall team play anyways, if your team is almost always over .500 in points percentage, you're most likely going to make the playoffs more times than not.

bullllcrap. prior to the 3 point game, this was true. when they awarded teams for an overtime loss in 1999, that changed. now, with shootouts, 24 teams at seasons end will be "above .500" or around 24. its fuckin stupid.

buffalo finished 37-34-7-4 in 2003-2004 and finished last in the division. make every game worth the same will they?

Uh, no. It has no bearing at the end of the season because all teams have played the same number of games at that time. Therefore the only metric of value is points earned.
