Yep.

I still feel that way. He played well last night, and deserves to be commended for that. But, he's here to score, and he's not doing it.

He's not even getting chances most of the time, regardless of line mates.

64 shots in 28 games. That's like 2 shots a game with a 3.1% shooting percentage.

If he wants to make a career out of hockey at the NHL level, he better continue to do a lot more without the puck. He's got the wheels but I haven't seen much in the way of skill.

I've nearly stopped commenting in the GDT's and the after talks because of how flip floppy discussions here have been. I mean with a win you get the "We're gonna make it" threads and with a loss it's all "hell in a hand basket". Same thing with players. You get a bad night and they should be put in the press box or sent down to Portland but if they happen to look good one night then apparently they get knighted.

Glad to hear Gerbe got under Gomez's skin and glad they got the win.

Question though, I in Orlando, so I didn't see the game. Will Weber get suspended for the hit on Cam? Or was it just the way he fell and nothing will come of it other than the 2 minute minor her got? I see no real mention of it in any article I read and probably can't see the game till tonight when I get home.

Weber's crosscheck wasn't really that dirty. It looked a lot worse than it was due to the awkward way Cam fell and the fact that he's like two feet tall and ten pounds.

Yeah, the hit didn't seem too bad. I mean it was from behind but it was pretty standard push with an odd fall.

Ok. Good to know. Hopefully he won't serve any time for it. Thanks!

Gerbs has the tools. Just needs to put in those efforts.

Nice job.

if anything, its the opposite. the kids put in the effort, the tools arnt there. i have seen him have some glorious chances.

now, if he keeps getting assists, then its a mute point. i still dont think much of him, and one game doesnt change it at all.

I see Gerbe as one of those players that is in that dead spot. Talented enough to rip it up in the AHL, but not quite enough to do much in the NHL.

Nothing wrong with that, but I just don't see him as an every-night NHL player.

thats how i see him as well. as his size hinders him from being a flexible player, he just isnt built for the bottom 6, and isnt talented to enough to crack the top 6 on a nightly basis. and like you said, nothing wrong with that.

Can't disagree with that.

He'll prove you wrong. Wicked wrist shot, creative with the puck, agitates...

When he wasn't scoring, it's because he wasn't playing like he has since he was put back into the lineup.

You guys are wrong about him. He's going to have a good NHL career.

Although I thought he played an awesome role last night, one game doesn't constitute a statue to be carved in his honor. I thought he played some hella big minutes and was happy as a pig in shit with his play. But until he is a presence like he was last night, consistently... I dunno. I commend his effort big time; I just wish we had the kid from the Pirates instead of how he has been playing up until last night. Granted, the AHL is lower caliber than the NHL, still....

Not ripping on the guy or calling for his head. I like Gerbe, actually. He just needs to play like this night in/night out.

if he was this talented, he would start producing. he just doesnt look like he has the talent.

Its pretty sad to me after 1 night of a subpar guy tearing it up, but Vanek has 10 points in his last 8 games, and nobody says shit about him producing...

Gerbe is a fucking runt who is only in the NHL because we deal with a stupid self imposed cap of 5M under what we could spend.

He gets into a wrestling match with the coward that used to be Scott Gomez, and all of a sudden he's a fucking subculture celebrity. I say we sell him to the Mexican Midget Wresting League and get some money back. I'd rather have Colin Stuart, or even Matt "12 Point Career High" Ellis in the line up over this midget butt plug.

It hasn't been one game. He's played very good hockey ever since he was last put back into the lineup.

I'm not basing this off of last nights game only. He's a rookie. They struggle to produce sometimes.

Yeah, I guess I'm kind of looking at his situation as though he's played with the big boys for a while. But only because of the hype which was slung around when he signed his first deal. He is young, plus he's small. As with everything, with time he could get better.

But I'm still not building a life size statue for him. Although, it would be more cost efficient than building one for Myers.

9 points in 28 games. Tied with Grier, one ahead of Niedermayer.

He's not here to play good hockey. He's here to score points. He's not doing it.

nhl caliber players bury the chances hes had. rookies or not. i understand some players dont come in and produce right away.. most of those players dont have the chances hes had.

theres a reason he was taken so late in the draft. its impressive hes played this much as it is.

and dont give me that diamond in the rough speech, or the miller argument. when miller was taken in 1999, the NCAA wasnt the hotbed it is now. and its a heck of a lot easier to scout US born and trained players then it is players over seas, so the datsyuk theory is out the window too.
