Buffalo forced Detroit into 16 turnovers.

They outscored them by 4 goals.

It's all in the system, the players' hard work, and Regier's patience with our core guys, who get better and better each game.

And things are only going to get better.

They have to continue to play honestly. They play like this every night, and the Cup is something they can earn. It's within their grasp.

They must keep that in mind - No cheating back. No floating in the neutral zone.

Hard work.

+ Montadour, Kennedy, Greir and Myers..
- Kotalik and Afinogenov..

And you get a MUCH BETTER team..

It also helps that Hecht and Tallinder are giving 100%..

Just hope they don't go retarded like they did last season. They started out great, then went flat. I don't think they will though.

If one sacrifices their heart and soul and balls to the Hockey Gods, they will be verily pleased.

Especially with Vanek and Kotalik mounting each other.

Last season we won games early despite being outhit and outplayed. Miller carried us. This is much, much different...we are dominating like we never have before...and yes, I'm counting THAT year, too.

That was a great celebration I must say

Last season, we also started out hitting and hustling, then Hecht and Connolly came back, and Goose and Rivet went out - We became soft again.

Yup, basically. And it was little too late when they got back to save them from that play.

Give it 20 games, then start to evaluate.

4 games isn't enough time, like we said last year, we are back.

Need more time, because after 10-15-20 games there will be a clear indication if this is for real or not.

Yup.

This isn't a repeat of those glory years... this is an upgrade.

im not so sure. while i feel the sabres were a playoff team last year if not for injuries, and i feel this team is better, im not certain we are looking at a 05-06 calibre team. this is how i see it: in 03-04, the sabres were mildly successful, falling just short of the playoffs. but they became a more prolific scoring team, and you could just see the team was becoming something special. in 05-06, we all know what happened. i feel this years team is that gap inbetween those two seasons. i feel NEXT year will be a bonifide, skys the limit team. this years team? i can see a deep playoff run if the stars align, but im expecting a 5-6 seed finish. a second round team, if you will. anything past that is gravy. just for me. not trying to be pessimistic, im just not trying to get too excited over 5% of the season played, ya know?

yes, im saying that the team this season would mirror the 04-05 team in terms of success, had their been an 04-05 team.

Our style of play is one that succeeds in the playoffs, that's what I like. You can't go deep if you don't play lock down defense, and that's what we've been able to do.

Our Defense really has been the difference.
We're not just leading the league in shots for at 38.2 per game, we're close to leading in shots against at 22.8!
On;ly Chicago is better at 21.8.
We've allowed the FEWEST Shots, total, at 91!

Thta's how you win games. Keep the other team out of the zone, tie up the shooting lanes and clear the puck away form the net.

It doesn't hurt, too, that Miller is driven to be the premier goalie!

BTW, we're also 3 points out of 1st over all, with two games in hand over the leaders, NY Rangers and Pittsburgh

Sure, it's only 4 games, but it's a good way to start a trend

While the Sabres are giving fans reason to be excited, they are doing a fine job at not being elated themselves. They started well last season, too, opening 6-0-2. It didn't result in a playoff spot. One of the things they learned is they can't get an ego even though they dismantled one of the best.

"We've still got a lot of work to do," Roy said. "Last year, we started out really well and then fell off. We've just got to keep the work up and stay level-headed."

Added Miller: "It's four games in. It's positive so far, but there's a lot of things we have to learn. This team has to definitely evolve to be a postseason team. We're going to see a lot of different situations, but I think the amount of time we put into playing as a team, playing a system that has a lot of support, I think it's going to go a long way to helping us reach that goal."

This.
