I think they'll be driven by the best price and no one will give two shits about packers tie gate.

If we're talking strictly pizza, the cheaper one that has better pizza. Who gives a shit? This is a really bad comparison though because when you go to eat, you're also paying for the atmosphere. No one goes to a fucking car dealership for the atmosphere.

This whole argument is bunk. People are going to be driven by cost and tiegate doesn't matter one bit. Car dealerships pull stupid publicity stunts all the time. If that's what this it, it will get lost among the thousands of other dealerships doing other stupid shit.

They'll be driven to buy by the best price. But they'll be more inclined to visit the dealership as a bears fan, which gives them a shot to offer the best price.

The argument is not bunk. It's rock solid. Drive traffic to your dealership, you get more chances to close on sales. Period. It's pretty simple.

Publicity --> public awareness --> increased traffic --> increased sales.

Rock. Fucking. Solid.

you can think that about most people, and you'd be right, but there are a fair few people would go there. especially if prices are comparative, like most dealerships are (if the dealerships are similar size).

you don't pay for the atmosphere when you bring a pizza home. typically, you get the better tasting pizza if both places are a similar cost. pizzas are about the same price everywhere. so you pay a dollar more to support the sabres pizza place.

yes, with cars, if the cost is 5% or more different at the dealerships, almost everyone will go cheaper. but there are those fans, who may have a little extra income, who may go to the dealership that is "bear friendly" and pay 1-3% more. you're talking a couple extra hundred dollars, which, when getting a loan to pay for a car, is peanuts.

you can "bunk" it all you want...but this is the real world and that's how it works. take some sociology classes.

edit: and you're right, car dealerships do advertise in weird ways. but the point of advertising is to stick out in a way the potential consumer will remember. bears fans will remember this.

You call Squanto an asshole but the comment "take some sociology classes" isn't too far from what Squanto said.

I've taken two. I come to a different opinion than you guys.

I'm pretty sure that all of the hundreds of car dealers in Oak Lawn, IL are 'Bears Friendly'. If people are going to associate this dealer with the Bears, they would have done so before this incident since this dealer is a sponsor of the game radio broadcasts.

So basically, where I stand is this.

- If someone is a Bears fan, they already know about this dealer because of the Bears radio broadcasts that they sponsor.
- If someone isn't a Bears fan, they aren't going to care if the dealer fired a Packer fan.

i respect that you disagree. there's going to be more than one opinion on things. i didn't snap at you for disagreeing, and i wouldn't.

in my experience and knowledge, rapport makes salespeople good. build rapport with a person and you're a ton more likely to sell.

So how has business done for this place now that they fired a guy over a packer tie? I'd be interested in if they are reaping the benefits of exposure or losing customers because of stupid publicity.
