one thing i like, and its not a big deal, but is i downloaded a weather program, and the temp is in the upper right corner of the screen. if theres a weather alert, a red exclamation point shows up next to it. i click it, and it shows me the alert, and radar, ect. i dont THINK iphone has that. im sure it has weather apps, but not like this. its pretty awesome, actually.

also, all droid users. go to your phone dialer, and type in *#*#4636#*#* and a cool menu will come up telling you exact battery life, and even battery temp. kinda cool.

I think I'm leaning towards the Droid (probably the X). I got the iPhone idea from my brother, who said he was considering it mainly because it would also act as a new iPod as well as a smart phone that he wanted. I have no need for an Mp3 player, as I currently have a Zune. I have also had issues with apple. I went through countless iPods before I made the switch. I didn't like the fact that they kept breaking and I hated the customer service more (I mean, a "genius bar," really?). Much like irony, I said fuck it, got a zune, and am much more satisfied. So I'm reluctant to go back to Apple, especially since their new products always seem to bug out right after their release. Plus my brother pointed we would have to wait for them to restock after all the fanboys line up for it on the release date. I do want to go this weekend and dick around with the display models.

droid X is super awesome. sadly, the droid X 2 is being worked on as we speak, and a droid incredible 2 has also shown some life. those phones are going to be BADOW. both dual core, and both will be beautiful.

I still care nothing for dual core CPUs in phones.

I'm actually on my 2nd Blackberry Pearl...#3 is coming this Friday. My choice to upgrade was based on the availability of new hardware and the fact that my 2 year upgrades have come up due. I absolutely love the phone; it does exactly what I need. I can text and email, I can make phone calls, and I can browse the web. I can get turn by turn directions, listen to pandora, and stream radio stations.

Sure, I can't play angry birds, but I'm one brick-breaking motherfucker.

Why would a phone even need them for? The point is for more multitasking, but they aren't computers running hundreds of different large programs.

The need for multi-core cell phones is nonexistent.

And kills battery life because application developers don't code properly for dual core and use it when they don't need it.

And my weather App has the same feature, except the alert is located in the bottom center of the screen.

Which is another reason why Apple's closed system has an advantage over open systems for App developers.

When they implement technology, they make sure the developers write their programs to adhere to it, resulting in a user experience that is better than what you get with the others.

The iPhone 5 will have a dual core processor. At the start, old apps will run the traditional way. But they'll be forced to rewrite them accordingly.

And in the meantime, Apple will develop some kind of technology to reduce battery usage when using Apps that aren't written for dual core processors.

Things like that go overlooked by phone buyers.

I don't think I'd go that far...Apple is more concerned with getting their cut than anything else.
They don't screen apps for CPU economy....or reject some for bad yet un-malicious code.

With all apps, you get what you pay for in iPhone, BB or Android land.

I say go with a droid phone. The problem you should be worried about with the iPhone is that until they get a specific 4g network running for the phone, it could crash the network, i have a friend that works with sprint and he is baffled that they are trying to make the iPhone work on the current verizon system, he claims it could crash it, but thats just what he told me, im not sure i know much more about that....

But just from my experience and knowledge,

Blackberry's are too small almost, and the BB network seems to have problems.

iPod touch/ iPhones, why the OS is nice and crisp, i have always felt like the texting has been too small, and thats basically my only complaint about it.

Droid OS is nice and crisp like the iPhone/iPod, but i feel like the screens are bigger and texting and overall usage of the phone is easier.

those are my basic opinions. hope it helps, but my vote stays with the X

They've opened up a little more as of late because of competition. But they still have much more stringent requirements, which leads to that better overall experience.

And I think Apple might very well take it that far. They've been known to do things like that in the past. They're very outside the box in that aspect.

You could be right, though. But I still think that they'll have some solution if they don't take it that far.

Turn it landscape. They give you a large keyboard.

It's not new, a closed system has been their business model for almost their whole existence.

It eventually almost ruined the company after a decade of direct competition with more open platforms.

IMO, it's a losing long-term strategy.

Without the phenomenon of the ipod/iphone/ipad, I put apple in the dustbin of "almost-did" companies with Sun Microsystems....also a closed model (although at the end they had a come to Jesus moment).

my droid X lasts about 36 hours, and i use it alot. when i use it CONSTANTLY, im looking at 24 hours. better then my old motorola Q at least. haha.

my blackberry storm, which i used less then my X lasted 36-48 hours.

the iphone 5 isnt getting a dual core probably but a 1.2 processor. which is pretty awesome. the screen will be larger, 3.7 inch rather then the 3.5 of the previous iphones.

its said to be "evolutionary, not revolutionary" meaning besides more memory and a better processor and a larger screen, its going to not have too much change. a new chassis though and LTE capability.

sounds like a pretty swift phone... but im still leaning toward the new dual core androids. those are gonna be swift.

Mike, you won't see any difference in speed from a 1.2 ghz single core and a 1ghz dual core phone.

The only difference you could see is if you have multiple apps running at the same time, and even still, they won't command the resources computer programs command.

ok. its not like i called the companies and said, hey, throw in some better processors.

clearly, these phone companies are throwing in these faster processors for a reason. so, i dont get the big deal.

i got mine in june 09. 120 gb.. only gripe is have is the battery. but i use it so much, the battery is warped. i should buy a new battery and toss it in. outside that, i LOVE my zune. none of the issues i had with my ipods: freezing, deleted songs randomly, wouldnt upload songs, wont turn off, wont turn on.) what a trainwreck those ipods were.

i never had an ipod besides the touch, and that was 8gb or something. i had to upgrade pretty much as soon as i hit puberty (when i got some taste in music), so grabbed a zune. then someone drop kicked it and broke it so i had to get another one. no problems with it whatsoever. it's great. too bad they don't make them anymore. i'd consider getting a zune hd because it looks nice and all, but i don't think it has the storage i need.

and yeah, the thing with my battery is it goes red within a few hours of playing, but then if i let it, it keeps going for another half a day.
