I think he will let Darcy and Ruff will stay on another year. But heads will roll if they don't make the playoffs next year, and it should.

This team has quite a few good vets and young players. They are just two or three players away from being a great team.

Connolly, Grier, Neids, Lalime. Bye bye. I like Lalime as a person. Great cheerleader, but we need a good backup. I think Enroth can do that next year.

I am very happy about this sale. Can't wait.

I can get behind this... been saying it for a while, we've given Darcy over 1000 games, whats 100 more... I still think there is a good GM in there. Maybe if they take the 'cuffs off, expand the scouting department back to pre BTG days and put a few more resources into the team it can be turned around. I'd at least give Darcy and Ruff the opportunity to work with an owner that could be as passionate as Knox and Knox were. Think about what they have had to endure over those 1000 games.... They are good hockey people! They know the game! Take the 'cuffs off for a year and lets see whats left.

If its status quo so be it, than its time for a change! But I would hate to see Darcy move on to another team and win a cup before we win one... not saying that would happen, but if it did, i wouldn't be very happy... give him one more shot.... Give him whatever he needs! Neids, Grier, Timmy, should all see the door.... And maybe even one or two more moves should be made...

Regardless of what happens, Im excited for change at the top! Im excited for Quinn to GTFO! And Im excited to see what Mr. P can do with his team!

The fact that he got an extension doesn't mean anything.

If Pegula wants him gone, he'll be gone. Not that big a deal.

Meh. I don't care either way. If they bring someone new in, ok. If they keep him around for another year, I can live with that too.

Okay, so we're all dancing in the streets & planning our 'Good-bye Quinn' parties, but who will be taking his place? Anyone? Pegula himself?

I found it a little weird reading after the fact that Darcy was extended by 2 years. Why the secret around that? Don't get me wrong, though. I've never been one to boast my love affair with him as a GM, but I'd like to see what he is able to do with the restraints taken off and some other good hockey minds surrounding him. He's brought in some really great talent in the past, and I think he still has some shake & bake left. But who knows. If T-Pegs decides to part ways with him or thinks it's time to start fresh, then it'll be his decision to do what he feels is best.

Side note, Darcy has always said that as long as he is GM, Lindy will be the coach, or at least have a job with the Sabres.

Should Pegula keep Darcy on as GM, does he retain Ruff, or is it time to install a new message and system behind the bench? Myself, I wouldn’t mind seeing what Lindy can do with one more year maybe.

He'll most likely hire a team president that's responsible for day to day operations, and who is accountable to Pegula. Not really different than it is now, except that the team president will be an employee, not part owner, and can be most easily fired and removed for non-performance.

If they cut darcy loose, I'd be ok with it. Though I prefer to see him get one year and see what he can do. Get rid of what can be given away, even for a super low draft pick. You just never know what you may get from a low pick. Maybe a diamond in the rough.

Ruff is the one I'd hate to see leave. He is such a fixture on the team, I really like the guy and want him to win a cup here. not somewhere else. I really feel that if he leaves, he will be scooped up very quickly and win a cup down the road elsewhere. I'd hate to see that as a Sabres fan.

Bring back the old scouting, spend the money where it needs to be spent and lets have a winner.

that goo goo dolls song Sabres montage in this thread or another one gives me goosebumps. I swear I watch it every few months.

Haha..not to be a dick but while we're getting rid of players can we also get rid of the Goo Goo Dolls? I hate them something fierce. That video is good though on mute...hahaha!

I don't see Pegula hiring a middle man between himself and the GM. Why add another wave to the organization. Pegula is smart enough to hold a GM accountable for a team's performance.

The owner having a team president is the normal way to operate a team.

It's the normal way for a team owner who doesn't want to be all that actively involved.

Off the top of me head, I believe that the Islanders, Rangers, Senators, and Devils operate with a GM that reports directly to the owner.

This is all off the top of my head, so I could be incorrect. But I guess I was under the impression that a GM/President of operations dual title was pretty common.

We all want an owner that will give more free reign but we don't want an owner who wants complete involvement though.

We don't want Jerry Jones or Dan Synder as an owner.

Being reported Lindy was also offered an extension and he turned it down. He did say he wants to stay.

I'm pretty sure Burkie is GM and President. I wouldn't mind seeing Darcy get that kind of power for a year to see what he can do.

offered an extension, refused it, but wants to stay. That defy's logic.

Lindy in the front office, would make sense to that statement though.
