Yeah I just read that...kinda strange. I thought being under contract would get them paid even if they get fired.

You do, well you negotiate a buyout of said contract.

You can't just fire him.

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.

I know Darcy has got a 2year contract but I could see Ruff becoming the GM soon, it's just a thought.

Sure you can.

You send him home, remove him from his GM duties, and pay him as you were paying him. He's still under contract to you, you just don't want him doing the job anymore. You're not stuck with him at all, even if he won't go for a buyout.

Well I more meant you can't just fire him like you could a regular person, he's gonna get paid regardless.

BTG doesn't owe anyone anything. If he hadn't put his money on the line, this team would not be here today.

We all wish he would have done some different things in player choices, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this team was almost out of here until he stepped in.

We we all going to games, buying gear, just because our team was still in Buffalo? I don't think so.

He owed us competent ownership which includes the product on the ice, not just ticket sales...which will be his legacy as per the Sabres own article on their team page about him.

To be as close as we were and to miss out because he was being "fiscally responsible" is about the lamest thing I can think of for a man in his position who knew he wasn't in this for the long haul....he was going to get out and get paid. But he owed nothing to the people who forked over their cash? Maybe you think that way, but I think differently.

That's sad, really sad. The only other way Golisano "differentiated" himself from the other 29 franchises is that he left hockey with money him is pocket.

Just can't buy into the BS of his keeping the team here and increasing revenue as being enough. The hardest thing was to build and maintain a winner and he had no real interest in doing so....if he had any interest it could have happened b/c we were close.

All he had to do was delegate hockey duties to someone who knew what they were doing. A minimal expense, but as it was an expense, so it was not an option.

Again, sad, really sad....being the 1990s Pittsburgh Steelers of the NHL.
