Well then WOW his locker room credit goes up big time, that does wonders for a teams chemistry. Obviously he's not all there, but I loved that!

I honestly am on Johnson's side here. DiPietro is a little shit bag, fucking throwing that blocker into someone's face, don't care if it's Cooke, or Crosby. You want to use your pads as weapons, then you suffer the consequences.

Those blockers don't have much give, it's honestly probably like being smacked in the face by a sheet of plywood. It's going to hurt.

Johnson came in, tagged DiPietro, and then quit when he was down. He did nothing wrong. DiPietro was 100% in the wrong, and got what he had coming to him.

Maybe Garth Snow gave him some pointers on how to be a moron. "Well, there was this one time I decided to poke Matt Barnaby..."

Man, did he hit the ice like a bag of ass! And for the next Isles game, the headlines will read...

"Dipietro sidelined with bruised ego and upper body injury. Possibly out for season"

I'm no DP fan but what's all of this "he's a shit bag" garbage? A guy was coming in fast on him and he lifted his arms to defend himself from the incoming impact.....NOT to take a cheap shot at someone. I don't see how Rick is at fault for the initial contact at all. Now going out to center ice with a smile on his face is just plain tarded.

19:43NYI Rick DiPietro : Fighting (maj) - 5 min
19:43NYI Rick DiPietro served by Rob Schremp : Goalie leave crease - 2 min
19:43NYI Rick DiPietro served by Rob Schremp : Interference - 2 min

Yep. I'd say that DP was at fault for the contact.

He admitted as much in postgame too.

Aside from what Tom said, he didn't lift his arms to defend himself - he flung out his arm to crash into Cooke. Plain as day.

Look it...I didn't watch the game so I don't know if Cooke had that coming to him or not (either way it's always great to see him get back what he dishes out), but it was obviously a penalty. The game was decided and DP figured he could crush some sour grapes without any repercussions because he's a goalie. The only one that can fight a goalie (by code) is the other goalie. Johnson not only manned up, he sacrificed his SO too. That's a fucking GREAT teammate.

Check out the ref, he's all like, "Dude he's breaking the code man, what do you want me to do?".

Here's all Dipietro had to say about it...

Quote:
"He's got long arms," said DiPietro, who sported a welt from Johnson's haymaker

LOL

Apparently BJ made a sick move on an official before the fight, maybe that's what made DP smile. All I know is that when you combine BJ and DP things happen.

I didn't have a problem with it. If it was any other goalie, I would have taken umbrage with it, but since it was Ray Emery who has no compunction about fighting anyone, then whatever. The one thing I will say is I don't know why Peters went after him. Emery didn't do anything to cheapshot Biron, didn't hit him while he was down or anything like that, simply knocked him over and that was the end of it. But I guess Neil didn't need to go after Drury either...

Looked like Cooke was going to sideswipe Dipietro just to be an assbag/scott gomez whether Dipi threw an arm into it or not (and Cooke is the only Pen(is) I like).

Still don't think Johnson had any reason to come down the ice the way he did, but good on him for doing so. Either way, I thought the entire incident was hilarious and I loved watching it unfold on my TV. Kind of typical, neither team is known for clean play.

He came down because DiPi looked at him and gave him the 'What?' shoulder shrug. I had no problem with Johnson once he did that.

Yeah I don't have a problem with it, it was just puzzling to me.

Yeah I don't have a problem with it, it was just puzzling to me.

Quote:
Ugh, first of all, Cooke ran into DiPietro as much as Dipietro ran into Cooke.

And why Johnson is being lauded for this is beyond me. He came all the way down the ice to hit a guy who has a history of injury problems. It's like sending a $500k goon out onto the ice to injure a star player. Utterly classless and perfectly emblematic of the Penguins organization. My question: where's the vaunted Pens captain during all this, keeping his guys from throwing cheapshots?

That's what u call not having a problem with it?
