Not sure what roles. But he wants to keep them.

If the mods think this isn't worthy of a separate thread, just merge them. I felt as though it was big news.

Let Darcy run them for at least another year imo. I'd love to see Patrick brought in as President or the bull shit senior advisor position.

senior advisor = we just want to give you money because of who you are, not what you contribute

I want to see James Patrick gone. He's probably the reason why we have such a sissy defense.

Darcy = Sinden him!

Lindy - Get the guy some centers and let him tear it up! Oh and tell the players that its Lindy's team and they don't like it, there's always the Isle or Columbus.

Darcy Regier remaining with Buffalo = PUKE!
I'll just walk away if he is still the GM next season.
Wouldn't be worth any more of my time and Colorado looks to have their shit together more so than Darcy "No Nuts" Regier.
I cannot suffer another conservative season from this fuck stick.

I'm not a fan of James Patrick either. He was mediocre as a player and I'm not a big fan of him being an assistant coach.

I totally agree. I'm not a Darcy Regier fan at all and the way he talks to us fan about the market and that the market wasn't there for this player and that one. I'm sick of his shit. I will be so happy when Regier is gone. He is way too conservative when it comes to running this team.

First Larry Quinn is gone thank god and hopefully Darcy next.

Who do you have in mind to replace him? I'm just curious as I think all our special teams coaches could be restaffed.

Pat Lafontaine. What's he doing nowadays?

We need someone a little more offensive minded. Ruff was a defenseman. Patrick was a defenseman. McCutcheon was a forward, but not a very good one.

Not debating your point, just mentioning that Ruff did see time as a forward and is officially listed as a left wing on NHL.com.

Did anyone read the link that was posted? By Patrick I meant Craig Patrick.
As for Darcy. We've heard he had his hands tied on some issues and he didn't on others. What exactly was going on with management we'll never know but what I do know is Darcy is very highly regarded in NHL circles. I've said this before, only 3 GMs got invited to the world hockey summit in August, Burke, Lou Lamiorello, and Darcy. The NHL wants his opinion because he's a smart man and he knows what he's doing. Give him one more year with the new owners and than we'll see how many of us want him gone.

I like that he's keeping things stable for another year. Maybe Darcy makes a good move or two and we see the GM that we felt he could be. Or nothing changes, we decide that Darcy was just bad, and we get a new guy.

Doesn't sound like this is set in stone guys..

Dave Davis said that Elliot Friedman said that someone told him that Terry would like to keep Regier.. I'm not buying too much into this link..

Ditto that. If you're willing to leave, you don't belong here to begin with.

Remember one thing BTG said in the presser - that he was not directly involved in personnel decisions, he told the front office only TO MAKE SURE THEY BROKE EVEN FINANCIALLY. That means having some constraints on the wallet. For the most part Regier spent close to or at the cap, but there were a few seasons with room for one or possibly two impact players that could've made a difference for a Cup/playoff run.

If Pegula is willing to operate at a loss, as most teams do in order to provide a legit Cup contender, then Darcy should have the approval to pull the trigger on moves that will put them right up against the cap, and provide that one player that is clear step above a Moore or Torres.

EH is right, Regier is highly regarded around the league. He does know what he's doing, and he can build a Cup contender and keep it that way without financial constraints or counterproductive negotiating policies. There may be a better option at GM in the next year or two, but him staying is hardly a reason to jump off the boat.

I think it would be fair for Pegula to give them a chance and see make an evaluation on his terms

I honestly did not think Pegula was going to drop Darcy and Lindy as soon as he became the owner.

Good riddance to you then. Have fun watching your new team!
