Still don't think Johnson had any reason to come down the ice the way he did, but good on him for doing so.

He came down because DiPi looked at him and gave him the 'What?' shoulder shrug. I had no problem with Johnson once he did that.

Yeah I don't have a problem with it, it was just puzzling to me.

Quote:
Ugh, first of all, Cooke ran into DiPietro as much as Dipietro ran into Cooke.

And why Johnson is being lauded for this is beyond me. He came all the way down the ice to hit a guy who has a history of injury problems. It's like sending a $500k goon out onto the ice to injure a star player. Utterly classless and perfectly emblematic of the Penguins organization. My question: where's the vaunted Pens captain during all this, keeping his guys from throwing cheapshots?

That's what u call not having a problem with it?

I was joking...

Unless you're Andrew Peters...

that was BULLSHIT. peters lost all the respect i had for him, right there. never gave two shits what he did after that, just hoped he was gone.

I didn't have a problem with it. If it was any other goalie, I would have taken umbrage with it, but since it was Ray Emery who has no compunction about fighting anyone, then whatever. The one thing I will say is I don't know why Peters went after him. Emery didn't do anything to cheapshot Biron, didn't hit him while he was down or anything like that, simply knocked him over and that was the end of it. But I guess Neil didn't need to go after Drury either...

if the goalie initiates, no biggy. emery had a partner: biron. peters stepped in, when he had no room to do so. its just something you dont do.

Considering his contract, that is one expensive sandwich Johnson is going to be buying with it. ;)

I think Cooke dove, but maybe that's because I hate Cooke and I don't think I could ever defend him.

Cooke had no reason to go that close like that. Seems he was just asking for it and then dove a bit to make it official. I know I'm in the minority here but I honestly don't see what DiPi did as anything crazy or cheap. I mean Cooke was skating right fucking at him. I'd put my hands up to block a bit too, and probably would have gave him a fucking pop in the mouth for good measure just cause Cooke is a douche.

Going to center ice with a smile and a glass jaw on the other hand is crazy. Still giggling about that one...

I'm with you. Cooke is a cheap player and does things like this all the time, I don't think he deserves any sympathy. He's always asking for it with the way he plays.

But yeah, not sure what DiPietro was thinking when he went to fight Johnson...pretty funny though. Poor dude.

Ryan Miller's take on it:

Quote:
Punch lines
It turns out Penguins goaltender Brent Johnson packs quite a punch. When he landed a left in a rare goalie fight with Rick DiPietro in the waning seconds of the 3-0 win Wednesday against the New York Islanders, he did some lasting damage.

The Islanders reported Friday that DiPietro will miss four to six weeks because of broken facial bones and swelling in his knee. DiPietro has been injury-prone the past few seasons.

Before that news broke, the starters for the game Friday had a little fun with the topic after the game-day skate.

The Penguins' Marc-Andre Fleury said he had no plans to fight Buffalo's Ryan Miller because Miller "is a good guy."

Miller pointed out that the two rail-thin goalies are not exactly built for fighting and for him to be provoked into fighting, Fleury would "have to do something really stupid."

Like clothesline a Sabres player, as DiPietro did to Penguins winger Matt Cooke, setting off Johnson?

"Oh, come on," Miller said, his disdain for the agitator clear. "Cooke can handle himself. He gets hit by bigger guys. Ricky's not going to take him down. It was all a bunch of diving around, trying to get attention ... a 3-0 game, guys scrapping."

i'm with you...cooke was stupid for being that close to DP and especially because it was the last 30 seconds of a 3-0 game. DP kept his area, and right he well should have, he was in the crease, the puck was away, so he put his arms up.

did he hit high? yup. do i care? no. he doesn't get the luxury of skating at the same time to dodge things. last minute bull crap. plus cooke dove.

I have to agree with Miller. Looked like, from the angle Cooke took, that there was going to be contact with Dipi whether Dipi moved towards him or not.

The Islanders lit BJ up for 6 goals. TKO. Bring on Fleury and winger Moulson who was drafted and dumped by the Pens scored his 20th and 21st goals of the season. LOL Fucking love it.

Apparently the Isle were butt hurt about BJ knocking out DP and Fleury laughing about it. I mean, Dp was kind of laughing before the fight, and then he fought like a complete Vag. But okay, you gotta stick up for your teammate so...

BTW Miller swayed my opinion of the play too, I DKW I ever gave Cooke any benefit of the doubt.

Holy fuck Brent Johnson fought again!!!

They put him back in and he squared off with Bailey and Godard came off the bench for the Pens (illegally) and they jumped him LOL

Godard 1st tried to seperate BJ but then they tagged him LOL

I'll tell you what else, BJ was gonna fuck him up without Godard's help. Don't fight that goalie, he's a Led Zep fan.

ON a side note the Penguins announcers are crying so hard it's so funny!

Fuck you Steigerwald you back stabbing faggot
