All this talk about goalies getting roughed up, I'm watching the Hawks and 'Yotes right now and Bryzgalov was just run by Frolik. He didn't even try to avoid the net. It's one thing to lose control and just end up running into the goalie, it's another when you can either pull up last minute or do your best to avoid the net all together.

You did see Godard try and pry Johnson away from Haley before he did anything else I assume? Because he did. I seriously doubt that was some kind of premeditated WWF plan. Godard went out to fight in place of the goalie but he was too late. So if you're going to get 10 games anyways, are you going to not punch the guy? Haley's NHL debut was a fucking fiasco just like that entire game, I only wish he could have gotten beaten more by 3 or 4 players at the same time.

How the fuck did Haley not get anything for fighting Johnson?? Didn't Peters get 2/3 games for fighting emery a few years ago. Also martin getting 4 is a joke, I know its not a Bertuzzi punch on moore but it is really similar.

Exactly my man!!!! EXACTLY!!! For a player who got called up for his role as a "tough guy"/"enforcer" its sad to see him completely disregard the unwritten rules/code that 99% of NHL players take more pride in than their own team's win/loss. And that is in NO WAY a knock on these types of players either because I for the most part love these guys......but.....

For a player who plays that type of game to TARGET an AHL'er call up......cheapshot him with a flying elbow to the head from behind reminiscent of "Superfly Jimmy Snukka" then toss his gloves off and beat the poor kid senseless when its clear he has no idea what had just happened ........that goes against EVERYTHING REAL hockey players stand for......and to then sit at the open door after being ejected and shit on the kid while he's being tended to by his trainer after your scumbag move just proves the point that you have no respect for the game and therefore should be shown no respect in turn.

I pray that the next game Gillies plays in the NHL someone takes care of business and beats that the shit out of this motherfucker. Someone needs to send to a message to this cocksucker that by acting like he did....it jeopardizes the credibility AND careers of legitimate enforcers who get paid to act like men with ACTUAL testicles who make a living protecting their teammates the way they are supposed to. Also, Godard getting 10 games is the mandatory suspension by the NHL for a player leaving the bench during a fight on the ice. Say whatever you want about Johnson "calling for it" or "asking for it" when it comes to the Haley fight, but I would like to think that everyone on this forum would support Cody McCormick, Pat Kaleta, Paul Gaustad or ANYONE else hopping the boards and taking a 10 game suspension to make sure that some other team's call-up goon didn't get to tee off on Lalime or Enroth. And all of it for no other reason than Lalime or Enroth broke DiPietro's face in a fight DIPIETRO STARTED AND CALLED FOR!!!!!!!!!!

.....DiPietro deserved that broken face, started the original fight and ate Brent Johnson's knuckles because of it. Thats how shit works. Period. He - DiPietro - fucked up and got his ass kicked. It happens to the best of us....

I agree with what you said for the most part, but from what I have been reading it was about more than the Diepietro incident. IN that same game Talbot blind sided Comeau and gave him a concussion. It was borderline and the league didn't do anything about it (there's a vid of it in this thread), and the Islanders wanted revenge for that, Diepietro, and one player even suggested that they were upset about some things that were being written about their team in the papers. So it was a perfect storm or something like that.

They should have gotten more games.

I don't think that fights are always necessary, but I do feel jealous when you see videos of other fights and almost all 10 players are fighting.

Our "scrums" usually involve Pommers, Roy, Ennis...etc saying "GUYS....STOP!!!"

We have way too many players on our roster that have never been in a real fight.

I hope Kaleta is able to play tonight. I like to see more Islanders taking some time off courtesy of him.
