Miller sucks, why are you here to defend him for?

I have not read through the 4 pages of posts yet, but my take is...

1 - the D has hung him out to dry at times... they could be better in front of him

2 - Miller has had a rough year... I still think he is a bit banged up from the injury earlier in the year... and I think they are riding him to hard... I know he likes to play, and lala can be shaky, but Miller should not have played today, dude just needs a little rest, don't care if he likes it or not... you can beat him like a rented mule to get into the play-offs and have him that beat up...

again, i know he WANTS to play... but lindy needs to give him a little more rest, and today would have been a perfect rest day... 31 in a row is to much...

just my two cents...

It's certainly unfair, and that's why we jumped right to the Miller overplayed/why do we have Lalime topic.

I'm not really defending Miller, it's just that after every game we lose we just start threads saying "OMFG MILLER AND THE DEFENSE SUCK".

They are not just talking about todays game, Miller hasn't been his "Vezina" self all season. I guess this was just the breaking point. He has always been played way too much and this season no different. I'm pretty confident this may be the last season this happens because Lalime is done. He will not be resigned by this club (or any other) so that will be one of the the things to watch for come July. It would be nice if they picked up a good back up at the trade deadline but thats just a pipe dream

That's it. He's getting run out of town. He was amazing last year, struggling this year, being ridden into the ground. He's going to get angry and want out. Nobody appreciates him. None of the home town media at least.

Eh, I think that's a bit of a stretch...it's only one game.

Here's Jerry Sullivan's column on the game and Miller's post-game reaction:

Pretty mild-mannered, surprisingly.

That was the same thing with Stafford last year. He played bad, received great negative criticism, and was the first player on the trade block. No one wanted him. Look at him now.

The Buffalo media tends to be a bunch of dickbags and by and large can't take what they throw out. I don't think I've ever seen a Buffalo media member respond well to criticism when that's basically what they do for a living. Miller had every right to go off and good on him for it. And those kids have heard the word fuck before, come on. Better for them to learn that someone they idolize is a human being prone to the same highs and lows as everyone else than to keep him on a saintly pedestal.

goaltending is the most important position in sports. people who devalue the position get my devalued respect when posting their opinions on the game.

also, miller apparently had a meltdown post game.

Never said the position wasn't important, said paying $6.25M for it was too much. Versus any other single position, it is the most important position. Versus the rest of the team as a unit, it's importance dwindles.

The issue is that it's been more than one bad game at this point, it's been a lot of them.

I think some of the Miller detractors would be more willing to give him a pass because of that (and I did early in the season) if every player on the team got the same courtesy. But there are at least three players that in the past have played hurt and gotten ripped for it regardless.

Thomas Vanek, Tim Connolly, and Craig Rivet.

I don't really recall people criticizing them once they found out that they were playing injured. If they were, that's dumb.

Tim Connolly and Craig Rivet aren't as recent. People were bagging on Vanek last week even though his hand was bothering him.

People were all over Connolly during the whole hip pointer fiasco, and Rivet when he played (I think the 08-09 season) with a separated shoulder or torn something or other. Hell people were bagging on Pominville this year for not producing after he came back from his concussion.
