At this point, I think Lalime is only on this team to relieve Miller in case of an in-game injury, and for a warm body in practice.

That re-signing is looking more terrible by the day.

Add Bill Hoppe's tweet to that...

I agree, Tom. He's the emergency fill-in and nothing more.

So we've got a backup that will never start and a captain that will never dress... whiskey tango foxtrot.

I'd be pretty pissed if I were Lalime in this situation. It's like he's getting it in the ass but doesn't want to cause a rift so he just keeps on bending over. I think there were some games thus far this season that he could have started as opposed to Miller but instead Ruff did the opposite.

I'm not saying Lalime is the better idea at this point, but if you're not going to play the guy then remove him from the bench as a goalie and make him a coach or something.

Perfectly functional organization if you ask me.

Getting one more season's worth of paychecks when you know deep down that you should have retired after last season probably helps ease the sting of riding the pine.

I do like Enroth, but with the trade deadline coming up I would still like to see the team find an even better back up. This isn't a slight on Miller, but I think he needs some competition from within the organization. Somebody to push him, share the burden, and help him stay focused. If not at the deadline then definitely after it's all over.

Let's face it. Given the option of 1989 Mark Messier and 2011 Patrick O'Sullivan, the choice is really crystal clear.

O'Sullivan in a landslide.

/not really
//even is he is the next Wayne Gretzky

If my calculations are correct, when you hit '88 Mark Messier with the Delorean, you're gonna see some serious shit!

I'm actually kind of shocked that Lindy hasn't brought up Draper's, Barrasso's, Fuhr's, Malarchuk's or Trefilov's name.

Hasek is still playing in some Czech league, we could get him back.
