Did you ever look into the night sky, pick out a star system, close your eyes and imagine that you went there? If you imagine in enough detail, how much different would it be than a trip that you actually took to say the Grand Canyon....The mental images are the same. And after you came back from the Grand Canyon, you could almost imagine that it was in fact a dream and you never went there....

Suppose all of our experiences are merely a mean trick played on us by some bodiless entity....I think, therefore I am, may be a fallacy.

I used to be able to see the entire Milkyway when I lived in Bradford, but there is too much light pollution to be able to see the amount of stars I used to be able to see now.

I used to be able to see the whole Milky Way, too... I lived in an extremely rural area, on a dirt road. Now I can see maybe five stars. Here in Indiana it's not that bad, though. My college is in the midst of corn fields and small towns, and though the Milky Way is only slightly visible, I can still see all the constellations.



This is like the surface of my usual thoughts. I could go on for days...

Living 8 miles outside of Bradford in the middle of a valley I saw everything.

If I lived deeper in Johnston County I'd be able to see the stars, I live too close to a major interstate and state highway so there is some nasty light pollution from it since there is a shopping complex right there, and lots of gas stations and fast food joints.

That's exactly the kind of place I want to live when I get older. My aunt lives in Ballston Lake by Albany, and she's got a front row seat to the most beautiful light show in the world. You can see everything. It always sucked coming back from that to light polluted Williamsville and all 6 of the stars that are sometimes visible.

you guys are nuts. i love light pollution. the best is being in a city, with low lying clouds, and snow on the ground. weve played football at midnight back at college, it was so bright and orange. i love it.

Yeah, I lived about twenty miles south of Albany. It's the place to be.

When I have paid off all my college loans and buy a house, I fully intend it to be out in the country. Absolutely. There is nothing that could convince me otherwise.

You don't have to go that far outside of Buffalo to get out of the light pollution. The Alden/Marilla area gets pretty dark if you're outside the villages.

Belmont/Wellsville is my favorite area though, you can see everything from there. Absolutely no light pollution.
