That's what people remember. Not his career stats.

And here we have another case where stats don't tell the whole story.

Mar 17 '09 BUF @ OTT 32 saves on 36 shots, .889 Sv%, Loss
Mar 21 '09 BUF @ NYR 11 saves on 11 shots, 1.000 Sv%, ND (Played 1 period in relief of Lalime)
Mar 25 '09 FLA @ BUF 30 saves on 33 shots, .909 Sv%, Win
Apr 04 '09 NJD @ BUF 6 saves on 6 shots, 1.000 Sv% , ND (Played 1 period in relief of Miller)
Apr 11 '09 BOS @ BUF 34 saves on 35 shots, .971 Sv% , Win

His save percentage as a Sabre of .928 is clearly inflated by two garbage time showings, and one 6-1 blowout where the Sabres had a 5-0 lead going into the 3rd period.

He's not that good. He never was that good. There's a reason he's not in the NHL.

Not arguing that he's good. Just arguing that people are remembering him getting wins for the Sabres.

seriously though, wouldn't the islanders game have been a better game for Enroth to start?

Islanders coming off that emotional debacle against the Pens, a couple guys suspended, their 5th goalie in net... maybe the sabres would have tightened up a little bit with Enroth in net... Miller would not have played 31 in a row and gotten a lil rest...

Exactly, I mean if you can't dust off your back up against a teams 5th stringer....

I guess 'wins' is accurate....since it was all of 2.

i just don't get Ruff's thinking on goalies.... wait until miller is spent and snaps a bit after running him for 31 games to put your back-ups back-up in against the 5th best team in the conf. or put the back-up's back-up in before miller gets to the snapping point against the 14th best team in the conf... Do you push Miller that hard to see how hard you can push him?

could Ruff be looking at Enroth against the Hbas to see how he plays in case we need him in the play-offs? If he plays well, they use him as the back-up in the play-offs? if he doesn't the go after a back up at the trade deadline? do teams look at scenarios like that?

Im just trying to gain a little understanding on the thought process?

I agree completley Gr8. Total fucktard decision to play Miller against NY and then Enroth against Montreal.

Now watch Enroth get a shutout tonight, just because you said that.

I think the thought process is the same as when many of us see the check engine light come on. We know something should be done (like when your goalie has started say 30 straight games), but we wait until we start seeing smoke coming from under the hood to do anything (in this case, your starter giving up 7 goals against the Islanders).

The difference there if your a tech/mechanic you KNOW exactly what you can do with your car, you know what the check engine light means, you have the tools and scanners to KNOW exactly wtf is wrong with your ride.... Lindy is the fucking mechanic, he should know his car!

I guarantee that Lindy didn't expect Miller to have that game against the Islanders, and intended to start him against both Montreal and Toronto. Enroth starting tonight is a knee jerk oh shit moment that Lindy has been known for with the goalies.

Excellent response. It's not like that NYI game was the first time recently Miller let in 5 or more goals. The signs were there.

Miller's a big boy. If he's tired, he needs to open his mouth.

but thats the point... Lindy should know... hey, you know, Miller had that injury, this would be his 31st start... NYI (15th place) are coming off a pretty rough game with a 5th goalie in net.... maybe I should start LALA or Enroth, tell the team to tighten up a little bit for the back-up... I mean we have MTL (5th place coming up)... could use a fresher Miller for that game...

i mean really, wtf Lindy, i love ya and all, but thats simply bass akwards... unless the thought is, well lets see how far we can push miller.... i have zero confidence in LaLa... so we will put Enroth in net against a play-off team. if he sinks we find a back-up at the deadline... if he swims, we have our back-up for the play-offs...

or its just knee jerk... oh know Miller snapped, LaLa sucks... ZOMG bring up Enroth, get Miller a happy ending... LaLa, uummm yeah, sit there and smile... Rivet get in your suite and in the press box... odd question, does Rivet have the C on his suite jacket?

I agree that Lindy mismanages his goalies. He always has.

yes and no, Miller has made it known that he WANTS to play 70+, he wants to be on par with in his prime Marty Broudur (spelling) from a playing time stand point.... Its lindy's job to balance the playing time better while managing Miller's ego... and 31 in a row, coming off injury is not doing a good job of doing either...

Because Miller usually comes back strong looking for redemption after a game like that.

Plus, Enroth has beaten Toronto once this season already, hasn't he?

Miller's played Montreal well this season, and Enroth has a win against Toronto. Plus it gets Miller back on the ice right away to atone for the 7-6 loss.
