Quote:
Purchaser-in-waiting Terry Pegula is expected to be approved by the NHL board of governors Friday, sources told The Buffalo News. If Pegula is in charge when the St. Louis Blues visit Friday night, fans will hope his reign starts better than B. Thomas Golisano's ownership era ended.

Darcy finishes out the season no matter what.

Bank on it.

What Squanto said. Kevin Dupont, who broke the story on Pegula trying to buy the Sabres a full week before the Hockey News did, is reporting that Pegula will keep Regier through the season and then install a new GM before the beginning of free agency.

I wonder if the approval isn't the final step? I suppose there might be a last few steps to closing after they get the approval.

Why else would we get a specific date of the 22nd? I'm not going to get excited until I hear a press conference announced.

What final steps, if any, are left? I think a quick approval will come up shortly, and the new ownership can begin work immediately.

I agree with Squanto on this that Darcy finishes the season off and then he's gone. And if he's gone sooner even better. I'm sick of his bullshit excuses he fills us with about the market wasn't there and his last few deadline deals he has overpaid for garbage. I'm okay with giving up a second rounder if you plan on this guy being around for more than 20-30 games.

Hindsight is always 20/20, reality isn't. Who knew a 18 goal scorer for the year wouldn't get one here?

Quit your bitching about trades when we had no idea how the trade was going to turn out.

Has Pegula himself stated for the record that he will replace Regier after the season? If not, can we trust this Dumont guy?
If Regier is sent packing, Pegula better have a damn good idea about who to replace him with. We may have to replace Lindy also if he leaves with Regier.

Pegula has made no statements about anything relating to personnel. Dumont earns some cred because all his prior reports on Pegula have come before other media outlets, and have turned out to be accurate.

Regardless, it's highly unlikely (read : not going to happen) for a new owner to come in and can the GM a week before the trade deadline.

Just got a text from WGR saying it'll be next week.

As I suspected, the board of governors approval isn't the final step. Still a few more to go.

It's probably BoG approval tomorrow, then final closing paperwork, etc, next week.

You always need to take anything guys on twitter say with a grain of salt unless it's people who work within the NHL or TSN basically.

Always be leery of that shit.
