id rock a sean odonnell jersey, because he did play in a sabres uniform for 1 game (albeit a preseason game)... if the dude plays in a game, jersey is fair game.

a jersey with the owners, broadcasters, coach, phantom draft pick, own last name..... those jerseys? those jerseys suck.

Or the jabroni with the vintage white Sabres jersey that reads ZAMBONI and has a giant blue zamboni with gold trim for the number.

Huh? How would you know that though?

Because many of the people who I've seen wearing them were too young to have seen Ruff play.

So? People can still be a fan of who he was as a player even if they were too young to see him play. Many people are fans of Bobby Orr even though they weren't even alive when he was in the NHL.

Not trying to compare Ruff to Orr obviously, just saying that people can still appreciate a player even if they played before their time. I know I do.

What Caro said. I didn't realize that watching a player play was a prerequisite for liking said player.

I think Abe Lincoln was a hell of a president.

The owner still gets his name on the Cup when they win it.

I don't see any problem with it because without them, we would not have a team. Show something for support of them at least.

Fine, I erred in saying half the people wearing them are for Ruff-the-coach, and didn't mean it was definitive that the younger fans that wear them are wearing them because of Ruff-the-coach. But I still think that there are several people that wear them for Ruff-the-coach and I don't think that's much different than honoring any other current non-player member of the organization.

Sorry for not shitting all over something for once.

It's not that much different than all those people that sport Lindy Ruff jerseys, or anyone that might want to sport say a Jeanneret #71, or a Tsujimoto #74.

Uh.... Lindy Ruff played the game, and played for this team. That's an entire different animal.

They're still wearing era-appropriate Ruff 22 jerseys. There is nothing appropriate about a Pegula jersey.

I don't see an issue with it. Individual's name is on the back, as it should be. I don't see a problem with having pride in an owner. Maybe the argument can be made that such pride is a little premature, and I definitely think that putting the purchase price on there is stupid, but the concept as a whole I have no issue with.

The guy bought a jersey because he likes Terry Pegula. His pride is the same as everyone here drooling and having a love fest over Pegula. Don't see anything wrong with it.

the opinion on the name is kind of hit or miss with people. the main problem is the number.

Why? It's a number. If this ticks people off OHOHOHOHOHO I could make a more offensive jersey.

No you couldn't. 4 numbers wouldn't fit.

Sounds like it.
By the way, tonight was my sister's first Sabres game, which coincided with her birthday.
I think I've created a new fan.
