True but it is a pretty good assumption since GM's have several other duties to attend too

Even if he did watch all the CHL games, there's no way he watched all the ECHL, OHL, NHL, AHL and European, Russian league games. I'd like to see someone try to tell me there's no way I can know that.

I believe Darcy and Ruff work well together... they are close friends (bestmen at each others weddings)...

Why not...

Promote Darcy to President of Hockey Operations (Quinn's Roll)
Promote Ruff to GM...

Bring in a new coach of Ruff's choosing...

Gives Lindy the power of trades and building the roster... gives Darcy over sight and building the organization....

Its no secret that Darcy is a heck of a hockey guy... and he has done a LOT in varied situations... I'd think you'd want to try and keep that type of hockey mind around...

I have no idea who replaces him, but if you miss the playoffs 3 of 4 years in the NHL, with a supposedly good team, and spending money, then you're most likely toast. Anyone would assume that. Same goes for the coach, but staggering the FO changes reduces the chance of firing the wrong guy. So who goes 1st? I say keep Ruff for another year, but DR is the guy under contract. Kinda sucks.

You hit the nail right on the head here. Then bring in Pat LaFontaine to fill the special assistant to the GM position, just because it would be cool to have him here. Im not sure I would let Lindy pick the coach 100% - we could end up with James Patrick or Rob Ray - Yikes!!!

They should probably just Promote Dineen and let him pick his assistants

I would like to bring back John Muckler as my first option. He was responsible for bringing in most of the players for the 1999 Stanley Cup run when Regier was still new in the GM role. After the Sabres, he built up the Senators well.
