Can we hit specifics here? Aside from the general love-fest. :D

I liked the fact that he specifically wanted "gritty" players. Grit is as important as sheer skill. Grit means heart, to me.

I hope he gets skill as well...

1. He's one of us.

2. He's not here to make money.

3. He's not going to meddle. He's going to put good people in places to make good decisions.

4. He cares.

Fucking perfect.

i love when he said that there is no salary cap on scouting. more money on the organization in general will be great for the players and the fans.

Yeah, that comment stood out to me too. I think he knows a winer when he sees one, and I don't think he's the type of guy who likes the fact that his team is last in the league in hits. I think this team is going to have a lot more snarl next season, and that's the kind of team I like! :)

I found his comment about improving scouting and player development a little unnerving, simply because that was something I thought the Sabres were already elite at. So either they were not doing as much as they could, or he doesn't realize that the area he wants to focus on pumping money into is already a great asset.

We know several NHL players reside in western New York. Some would like to play here, but stayed away from the old regime. How could he convince them to play for the Sabres?

He wants Grit?

What's that faint rustling....the sound of TC delicately packing his shit?

I agree. I'm excited just like everyone else but now it's time to wait and see what happens in the off season. Hope they get some cap space cleared at the deadline here and we can move on with a cleaner slate.

Until proven otherwise, I'm willing to believe everything Mr. Black and Mr. Pegula have to say. Although I do think Mr. Black's "best owner in the league" comment was rather boastful, he came across as brown nosing. That's something the other 29 owners probably hear from their employees everyday as well.

To me it sounded like they were going to do whatever they can to want players to play here and by doing all the little things to increase the players happiness for playing here.

I love the public statement black made to the players of the NHL. "This is the place to be. This is where you want to be. It's all going to happen here."

Step 1; make players want to play in Buffalo.

I like that statement as well. I think he is really going to take care of the players here.

What the fuck, I missed the whole press conference because I got dumb last night and slept in. Heard it was ahh-mazzzzing though, can't wait until Sabres.com archives it.

many people have said all the right things in the past, and not delivered. hell, even rigas proclaimed he was going to get the necessary pieces to complete the puzzle for 99-00 season after a near miss of a stanley cup in the spring of 99. the result? a 5 game, first round bow out.

the man can say the right things, and i believe him, but until those results begin to show, im still going to remain cautious.

dont worry, im not gonna shit on this parade. be happy, enjoy it. i am. im just going to proceed with some caution is all.
