What I hate about print media is when they take the stance of being something anywhere near close to an expert on the players or play that they criticize. TBN's group of sports writers haven't played a down of serious football or had one important shift on the ice in their whole miserable lives. Yet, they choose to make overwhelming conclusions about players and the team based on short stretches of games or simply their own bloated, biased opinions.
They sniveled back at Pegula, saying Montreal or Toronto would be much more critical. First, some of those writers have actually grown up with hockey and played it and second, their over-opinionated pieces aren't necessarily worth a crap either. If there are educated, analytical articles to read (good or bad) then fine, but for the most part the slop printed in TBN is Gleason style op-ed that wouldn't hold up in my circle of friends, let alone a legit hockey discussion with hockey players, coaches, or front office personnel.
But basically, Pegula is a positive oriented person and he wants to bring that atmosphere to the locker room and ice. TBN, like most print media, is filled with non-athletes that don't know how to attract readership without negative junk they think is true just because they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. That attitude won't be welcome in HSBC.
God, this is so true.
I can't stand how some schmuck with a journalism degree can act like he knows more about a sport than someone who has played and worked in it their entire lives, yet get all offended when called out on it.
