Yeah, I was just saying that there are so many components when it comes to the whole waiver process, and it gets confusing and it's easy to mix up the rules depending on the scenario.

I _think_ that since he's cleared waivers once he wouldn't have to clear again to be bought out, assuming he doesn't get claimed on re-entry.

I'll have to look it up though.

Yea you're right, if he is on the active roster for 30 days he has to clear again or plays in 10 games, otherwise he won't have to clear again.

Blue Jackets have claimed Rivet off re-entry waivers.

That surprised me, I thought he would be going to the Sharks.

Good for him though, I'm glad to see he'll still be playing in the NHL.

Does anyone know how much official cap room that leaves us? I'm coming up with some raw numbers.

It's like probably near the 800K mark. Take his 3.5 million, and divide it by 82 games, multiply it by 21 for remaining games, then cut it in half.

I believe that's how much cap space it leaves us with.

But for next year, it's 3.5 million freed.

Oh that's all we had freed before then for total cap?

If that's true...ouch...

Edit: Oh the raw number is about 5.1 that i'm finding. I hope that's true...

We had like 5 million in cap space this year. And with Roy on LTIR we should of got some space from that.

Since Rivet went through reentry waivers, we have to pay half of his salary still this year, or half of what is remaining.

The Sabres, after Rivet's move, can absorb $21M in cap hits for the rest of the year. Impressive number.

It'll be interesting to see if they do anything with that

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

The Jackets? Sweet. That means I can see him play when I go watch the CBJ 3 or so times a year.

I always liked Rivet and the type of game he played, he also showed nothing but class the entire time he was with the Sabres. I hope he gets the chance to play, whether it's with Columbus or elsewhere.

Hey, good for him. Now...do they pin the C on someone else, or just wait till next year?

I have a feeling they are going to stick with the rotating assistants and just wait till next year to promote a C.

Farewell, Rivet.

Time to announce the next permanent captain.

Lindy just said in the post game press conference that they'd rotate the As for the rest of the season. No new captain just yet.

I read Rivet would be the 7th defencemen in Columbus. Well I guess it beats being the 8th in Buffalo. ;)

Love the title you get at 150 posts. It should just say Mancari and everyone would understand.

The next player to take on the captaincy will need to be from those currently on the Sabres roster staying aboard for next season. Paul Gaustad and Jason Pominville are the frontrunners.

Paul Gaustad will never be the captain of this team.
