If his OHL teams season ends soon, he could be called up to play for the AHL or even the NHL team (info pulled from another Sabres board). So, that would be pretty awesome! How many times do you see a rookie start his career late in a season and bring energy and make a big impact? He could be this seasons Ennis.

Doubtful, seeing as Boyes is playing the wing.

Kassian won't be in Buffalo, the AHL maybe he'll be there for their playoff run.

I thought he was a center, why would we have him at wing?

Not sure. It's not like he hasn't played wing, though. Ruff says he'll be on a line with Connolly, which means he's the right winger.

Kassian isn't going to be on this team this year. He will have a shot to make the club during training camp.

Everyone is hard for Kassian because he's 6'3" 215. He's a man amongst boys in juniors, but in the AHL and above, people his size are more common.

He needs to come up just like everyone else through the AHL and learn how to play the game at his level. Otherwise he'll never be anything more than an AHL journeyman.

Exactly. Why rush him?

Yes he'll get called up...once the Spits' season is over and he can join the Pirates.

Isn't it true that out of training camp, Kassian could either come here or go back to juniors, he would not be allowed to go to the Pirates?

How come now he would be able to join the Pirates? Is that like how when the AHL season is over, the NHL teams can call up a bunch of guys?

i THINK that its because his junior season is over

Montréal did it with Price, called him upto Hamilton when his Q season was over

He wasn't 20 before December 15th so he had to go back to Juniors or be with the Sabres. Since his Junior eligibility is over after this year, if the Spits get knocked out of the playoffs or don't make it, he can go play in Portland for the remainder of the year and playoffs.

The AHL has age requirements to prevent all the good players from leaving the Canadian Hockey League. Kassian didn't mean the requirements for this season, so he can't play in the AHL until next year.

Can be called up to the NHL team if they want, but they're not going to do that.
