Looks like he's having a breakout season, 49 points already, so good for him. He was never very noticeable on the ice when I watched him play in Buffalo, but at 1.1 million I'd say the Leafs found a real gem of a player. It will be interesting to note how much of a raise he gets this summer, he's a RFA.

I don't think Sabres mgmt gave up on him too soon, he had time to learn and develop his game at the NHL level and he apparently just didn't show enough to convince the Sabres to make him a part of their long term plans. He still doesn't exactly scare me, like, "Oh no MacArthur?! Forfeit this motha, I got the MAcA flu bitch!". But he's pretty good.

MacArthur will need another season to show whether what he has done this year is for real or just a one time only campaign.

The Maple Leafs still need to overhaul their roster.

That may be, but 50 point scorers make 3 million/year at minimum, and they are going to pay him.

Gotta love playing first line minutes with Phil Kessel, huh Mac?

He never plays with Kessel. He plays with Grabovski and Kulemin - who are both actually more dangerous than Kessel, IMHO. That line has found really good chemistry, which has led to Mac having a breakout year. On ANY other team, I think he's an inconsistent 3rd liner, but hey, good for him! Maybe the Leafs can find a way to not screw up a good thing for once.

He'll get his contract and vanish. Leafs fans will eat him alive. Sabres fans will laugh. Thrashers fans will chew cud and play the banjo.

What is this strange breed you speak of, these "Thrashers fans"? I am not familiar with this concept.

This.

MacArthur's goalscoring is exactly what it was. The overall production is higher because he's been playing about 2-3 more minutes than he did with Buffalo/Atlanta but the rate is the same. The difference is in his assist totals which is almost entirely a product of playing with Grabovski and Kulemin who have 25 and 23 goals respectively.

It's a rare form of inbreeding that crosses Redneck Mountain folk with guys who did a lot of drugs in the 80's

This is the end result

I actually never wanted him to leave Buffalo, I thought he was awesome, and was one of my favorite Sabres.

I actually like the Yotes, and I like the idea of hockey in a desert. I mean, that's fucking awesome! I never much cared for the Thrashers and if they lose their team a SECOND time well, you can't say people didn't try. But please make it the last try.

I don't remember there being a hot wheels car in NASCAR since Kyle Petty did it in what I can assume was the mid to late 90's
