I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this cuz he's scored twice in two games, but I really don't like his defensive play. When he trys to get the puck out, he just gives it up or makes a pretty shitty pass to the center (which isn't bad just pass better) I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I see it out of Boyes the most. Maybe it's because he's the new guy, and I watch him the most. Hmmmmm, I really don't know.....thoughts?

I think Boyes backchecks the hardest out of all the forwards. No complaints from me on his defensive play.

I think everything in that statement was bullshit because when he wasn't teabagging the opposing players with his offense he was saving Montador's ass when a clear was failed.

Okay, well I could care less about his backcheck, his back checks are great, but I just don't like his breakout.

i've noticed he's weak on the puck, and doesn't look very confident with it. but that's because he's new. he'll be fine as long as he keeps his stick on the ice in front of the net, apparently.

With the utmost amount of respect, backchecking a massive part of a forward's defensive game, especially playing on the wing. I'm not sure how you can comment on his defensive play, yet ignore his back check.

Well that was the only good thing St. Louis would say about him. I don't give a shit about his backchecking if he keeps scoring. I'll admit, I was very meh about the acquisition but he has definitely prove me wrong....not really hard to do tho

Can you sight a specific example, because I recorded the game and I can go back and check it out. He made an absolutely bad n-zone drop pass in his first game as a Sabre but other than that I haven't noticed any bad defensive plays. And even if I did, his play with the puck far out weighs it.

If all Boyes ever does is score 20-25 and backchecks hard consistently, he's still better than most of the forwards on this team.

Ignore the fucking backcheck, I'm talking about his breakout decisions ONLY!

I was commenting on his defensive play because you were discussing his defensive play.

I'm fine with bad Boyes. My only critique would be his acceleration(if it even exists). He looks like scooby doo trying to get going. Not really an issue though, as he is over 200 lbs. I'd like to see him tried at center so we can get Hecht away from our star player(I know Hecht has been good as of late).

Yeah, his stride is interesting. He does get moving quick for a bigger guy though.

Yeah I dunno if he needs a deeper hollow or what, might be the Carolina ice too.

As for Hecht his mind for the game is amazing, he has such great vision and anticipation. His hands are not quite on the same level however, but I wonder what he could achieve with more practice at center...

I've heard the RBC ice is actually really good.

I'm also pretty sure most players have gone to the FBV sharpening now as it's sooooooo much better.

If he's good for 20-25 and continues to backcheck like he has, plus tosses in those hits he threw on the Rangers on Tuesday, I'm gonna love this pickup.
