That first goal is HUGE, no penalties either!
About the best road game first period I've seen from them.
Even though we've played better and gotten back into the playoff hunt...our passing hasn't been crisp nearly as much as it needs to be. When our passing is on...we're a tough beat. When we're taking 4 passes to get it out of our end and passing it into skates...we're a much easier team to play against.
Yeah but the d-zone turnovers are few and far between these days, so I guess they are favoring safe chip outs instead of forcing breakout passes. I think that's wise because as a team I think the blue line could be defined as average in the puck movement department. And in the o-zone I personally hate those left to right tic tac toe plays like the goal they scored lol. Just go fast to the net and jam for a rebound, that's pretty to me too. They try passing plays like that 10 times they are going to fail 8 or 9 times.
I think if the tic-tac-toe play is there you take it as those really seem to demoralize a team. The Sabres were outskating the Wild and they were running around in their own end on that play. When you get 3 open passes like that on one play in the offensive zone...take it. If we hit the net twice on those get it in deep plays, it couple be 3-0.
That's really good vision and hands by Vanek. I know he's only wearing an "A" on his sweater, but I think its clear that he's the team's "C"...i want my C to QB plays like that...not all the time, but take them when they're there.
