I thought it was just my own bias, but we have been in the bottom 5-10 for face-off% for the last 4 years. Aside from Gaustad, not one effin' guy on this team can win a faceoff even close to 50% of the time. Seems like the power play always loses steam from the outset because they lose the initial draw so often. So many games we give up goals because of losing the draw cleanly. Perfect example last night on Pitt's 1st goal.

This will bite them hard this time of year if they don't figure something out.

we've only had one good consistent face off player in the last 6 years and he went to the rangers.

gaustad's okay, but a 3rd/4th liner can only take so many draws.

I honestly think that with this team, having average face off success (50%) would translate into a 4 or 5 more wins per year. It's an important area to address in the off season, either through FA or current guys working their asses off to get better in that area.

Goose should give a FO seminar.

We truly are not worthy of Miller!

At least Goose is winning the PK FO's in our defensive zone. If you lack one of those centers it shows up on their score-sheet. One of the main reasons why I don't rag on his contract too bad.

Laziness.

Not only are they not winning them but they are losing them clean, without any battle.

And they give up a ton of goals and chances off of lost draws.

Where are most of our faceoffs occurring? They are occurring in our zone.

Can we defend our zone? No, we play too much in our zone failing to clear the puck out of it.
