It sounded like it for the middle of the 2nd, and that seems to be it.

Buffalo seems to be one of those need-to-be-entertained crowds. They are loud when the team is playing great and are scoring goals left and right but when they are trailing or tied you can hear the players talking.

They don't really support their team, they just cheer when they are satisified with the show they get.

It's not the arena, it's the people. lol. So sad people forgot how to cheer(some of it is lost forever with the suds though). Worst part is the only person who I ever DO hear is some whiny old lady going, "That's it BOYS, go get em BOYS". For the love of god, someone get hammered, and drown out this annoying bitch, pleez. Every Toronto-Buffalo game I ever went to with Ray-Domi, I'd shout through cuffed hands as loud as I could, "kick his fucking ass rayzor". I'd be so redneck if I did that now. At the time, I guess everyone was so intense they didn't realize you even offended their kids? Only once did a guy tell me to quit rockin' the boat(it was for smoking inside right after they changed the rules anyway, not for being a punk rocker).

Agreed to the fullest. If we do go down with a stretch of extremely bad years, it will widdle out the fans yet again.

And yes Daz, agreed.

That team didn't deserve to get cheered tonight.

Can't speak for the other 18,000 fans, but I'm just a quiet person... I've never been the type of person to jump out of my seat and start a chant. I cheer and clap when there's a big save, a goal, a big hit, a fight, etc... But I'm usually just intently sitting in my seat watching the play on the ice. I dunno. It doesn't annoy me when fans are rowdy and loud though. It's just not my demeanor.

Well I think location has something to do with it as well.

Compared to other arenas, HSBC doesn't really have a lot of cabs driving around it.

In hockey, you usually don't as often go with 10 of your friends, but usually a couple. Is just one of those people in a couple going to drink greatly while the other does not? Someone has to drive.

When I went to Boston Gardens and MSG, I drank heavily and did not have to drive. Much easier.

Drinking = louder.

Honestly, that's the loudest I've heard the arena in a long time this season. And yet they show nothing for it. It's no wonder the fans are quiet, when we do cheer them on they can't score a fucking goal. This loss hurts a lot. Please Sabres, if we're going to cheer you on like that before you score, FUCKING SCORE A GODDAMNED GOAL!!!! #stillangryaboutthegame

HSBC Arena is broken when you fail to win. The only noise you can make then is eternal booing. After tonight's game, you will see someone like Steve Montador in the press box for four giveaways, including the giveaway to lose the game.

I expect Saturday's game to end with cheers.

Oh yeah! Drunk bus!

And on a more serious note, I tend to get more absorbed into a hockey game than I would for say football. The constant play makes it so I only really tend to make noise during stoppages, after a great save, good chance, bad call, etc. whereas when I'm at a Bills game, I'm yelling almost constantly between plays.

Then again, I'm 99% more hammered at Bills games than I am at Sabres games, so that might change things a bit.

Tonight was really quiet. I was there waving my towel in 315, like 100 feet from Pegula.

Compared to the Bandits game I saw two weeks ago against the Knighthawks, todays game was silent.

You can't ever, EVER use a Bandits game as a metric for measuring how loud a Sabres game is - the most inconsequential Bandits regular season game is louder than any Sabres game besides maybe a conference final or Cup final game.

It was a completely new experience when I went to a Bandits home game. I didn't realize how nuts everyone is there.

was loud in spurts tonight, the team played well, just ran out of gas and hit an extremely lucky goaltender.
