My only gripe is that it only has 2 HDMI inputs.

Get a receiver and you will only ever need 1 HDMI input for your TV.

I'm not loaded! I can't just go out and buy an HD receiver! Especially when I have a surround receiver already. It's just 10 years old so it doesn't have anything remotely close to HD video.

I believe I have a 42" Toshiba LED at home. It's good, no problems, but it's fairly new (3 months maybe?) but so far so good. I have smaller Vizio for my dorm room and I like that one too. I don't know much technical jargon but I like both of the HDTV's that I have experience with.

I had the joy of putting a whole bunch of End of Life TV's down on the floor at my Best Buy.

If you're in the 37-39 inch range, all you're going to find are 37 inchers, you have a plethora of 40in options and 1080p looks better on a 40 than a 37in one just due to the screen being slightly bigger and I would say the biggest selling ones are the 40 inch.

LG does make some really good TV's, I think their picture quality is right there with Sony's and the big name brands. I don't know much about Vizio, I personally would stay away from them, but that's because of the accommodations I get working at Best Buy so I wouldn't need to buy a cheap TV like that.

Another thing, the speakers in the TV will suck, if it even has any in it, so you're most likely gonna want to look into the home theater system if you haven't already. I honestly think most of the newer LED Tv's and LCD TV's don't even have speakers in them anymore, don't quote me though.

And most LCD TV's can be had around the $500 range too.

And tom, the 3D TV's aren't bad at all, the only time they play 3D is if the movie or channel supports it. Most new 3D TV's don't require $100 glasses anymore, they can use the cheap plastic glasses you get from a movie theater now. And they honestly look really cool. The hype is true about them, and they look just as good if not better then some non-3D Tv's. Most TV's have the option to get a 3D kit for them now, or at least Sony has it.

It's not worth paying extra for 3D support when it a passing fad. Again.

I disagree. I think 3D will be around for awhile.

The same thing was said in the late 80s.

3D is sweet but have they fixed the whole "Fuck my eyes hurt now and my ears are bleeding!" aspect of it? I mean, I wear glasses so it's a pain and then when I watch with my contacts I get headaches. It's looks great but because of that it just kinda isn't worth it for me.

I highly recommend LG, I have 2 of them (42 and 36 inch) and I have yet to have any problems with them. They are both 1080P with 3 HDMI ports, and all that good shit.

I think I paid 800 for my 42 and 600 for my 36; granted that was 2 years ago, so they may actually be cheaper than that now.

Quality products, and fair priced. Thats my suggestion.

Also, 3D is a waste of money, until they can make it so you don't need expensive ass glasses to watch the fucking thing; I can't see paying 3000 for a TV then 100+ dollars for each set of glasses.

Not really. Lots of people still get headaches and such from 3D. In my experience, it seems to be worse when the 3D effects are 'forced', as opposed to being more natural looking effects, if that makes any sense.

You don't need the 100 dollar glasses anymore. I think it was LG but they have a tv out that only requires cheap glasses just like movie theaters use now. And the TVs aren't 3 grand anymore. They around in the 1-2k range now. LED TVs are around the same price.

My boyfriend's parents have a 3D TV in their new home in Florida. It's fucking sweet, I'm not going to lie. Even if it is a passing fad, the TV is gorgeous and has a great picture. They couldn't seem to find a TV with the specs they wanted without having to get 3D, too. Honestly, when I was helping them find a TV, I couldn't either so I don't think it was a matter of not researching it enough.

Whatever. It's a great TV. I think 3D will stick around because more movies are coming out in theaters that are 3D and the technology in general is better. History may repeat itself, but it also may not.

_____

I know Phil does not want a 3D TV and I'm not proposing he buy one. I'm just saying, they're super nice regardless.

My personal recommendation is for a Samsung, but not a cheap one (read, low cost model). I also recommend going to a website like slickdeals.net, where you can set a deal alert for a TV brand/model/whatever of your choice (you make your own keyword), and it will email you when there's a good deal to be had. I've saved loads of money using that website and I pretty much visit it everyday. You can find deals on everything. And that's not really an exaggeration.

Oh, and one more piece of advice. I wouldn't go to a store like Wal-Mart to buy a TV because generally they're models with less features and it would be better to get a TV elsewhere for a little more money. If you're patient, you can find a great deal on a TV and it doesn't even have to buy on Black Friday.

Why don't you have sexual intercourse with it, marry it, and then have 3D babies with it if you love it so much. Good luck comforting them when they come home from school crying and with black eyes where their 3D glasses used to be.
